They've made outstanding signings, that's why. Milner was beloved on this website before he signed for Liverpool.

looks like the ambition of the club had becomes mid table..... so expect the similar type of sponsors and pre season like those clubs, lol.[/QUOTE
not mid table, just second tier. we are sixth at everything. id prefer a post and preseason aimed a little more at the wellbeing of the players than the balance sheet.
It occurs to me that one way for a chairman to make themselves very popular with fans would be to say something like that.I think he has given up on the CL until the stadium is built but he won't be selling, he said he wanted to make us one of the best clubs in Europe.
I love the whole "I expect a couple more first-team additions before the season starts." Always makes me laugh.
We will not even come close to signing a starter- that ship has sailed. At best we will sign one or two fringe players, who the optimistic among us will over-rate, and who will turn out to be this season's Ben Davies. My (additions) prediction is: a young, unproven, fair-to-middling quasi-forward (not Berahino) along with some multi-use midfielder with "potential;" that is what will fill out the squad.
Then people will post videos of our new additions playing wherever they just played-- the Portuguese league, Croatia, Austria, etc.- and there will be this vague feeling that maybe we're ok, even though deep down inside everyone knows we're not.
Then the season will start, we'll lose 3-0 to United, draw with at home to Stoke, and the rot will set in. Lather, rinse, repeat.
This is Tottenham we're talking about-- when have we ever- in all recent history-- addressed every serious need? When have we gone into a season not desperately lacking in one or two vital areas? Sorry boys and girls- Rafael Van der Vaart was a one off; if anything, get ready for Frazier Campbell MK II.
Oh and for those of you holding out hope that Roberto Soldado will come good if given another shot with us: don't worry, you'll get your wish. And what's more, you'll even get the opportunity to use the "he doesn't get the right service from our weak midfield" excuse!
But really you care...
