Some on here need to have a day off.

Barca broke their youth salary cap for him at 16, he is 18 years of age international who Koeman was raving about since he broke into the Barca team (that's right I did type in Barca not fucking Burnley) and some on here don't want him?!?:banghead:
Assuming you're talking about me, I never said I didn't want him. I'm just trying to find out more about him before I start worshiping the ground he walks on?

This is why I love this site. An 18 year old youth player from Barcelona is linked, we’ve had scouts watching him and assessing how he would fit in, then from what we’ve taken in we’ve decided to try and jump ahead of Real Madrid and Leipzig by getting an offer in because lots of people in the football world have said he has a lot of potential and promise to become something special..

...but on SC, we shouldn’t sign him because Barry from Clapham who is at home, toast crumbs down his t-shirt, wasn’t aware of who the lad was last week, and doesn’t fancy him from his YouTube highlights. ???‍♂️

That's out of order. I'm not from fucking Clapham

I personally can't see this happening. Just a hunch.

*IF* his entourage are has difficult, as has been reported, I can't see them accepting a wage that Levy will *probably* offer him, Unless it has been stressed to him [Levy] that he is infact a generational talent.

I could be completely wrong though, so who knows.

Very encouraging that we are now seeking out these top youth players for recruitment though. About damn time we took this stance.

I’d understand the worries if we were spending £30M+ for this guy, but we really aren’t. We’re getting a top rated player who may or may not make it, yet if the rumoured fee we are paying is £15 or so million, it really isn’t a risk in regards to making it or not making it here or wanting to leave in 4 years time. We will either have an amazing player with us for 4 years and more, or we get our money back and more.

£15m is the transfer fee but I do wonder what the agents fees and wages will take the deal to eventually.

Never seen him play but between this and the sarr and Gil signings it feels like the club have a good plan going forward.

Happy to see it

I understand some of the reservations others are having, ive not been "wowed" from what ive seen. But, to be honest i havent a clue when it comes to judging a players potential, there are too many variables. I thought Bentaleb was destined for the absolute top when he broke through for us. Look how that turned out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the club is looking to invest in the future. I'm just a little skeptical when I see people over on COYS saying this kid is going to be "world class" for example. At 10-15m I think it is worth the gamble, but the figures being thrown around yesterday were more in the 20-40m range and then I just wonder if a signing like this comes at the expense of somebody who can slot in to the first team immediately- even if they have less overall "potential".

Firstly, who cares what they are saying over on COYS. Some will overrate players and some will underrate players. As for getting someone to slot in now, I believe we are going back to what built the team we had a few years ago and was challenging for the title. The question is more, does this signing impinge on making other signings? We can't know, but I would rather we try and sign players to try and win the title in 3 years than players to try and win the league cup this year. Even if the fee is say 25 to 30, which I imagine would include a bunch of add-ons, that is similar to us spending the mid teens we used to spend on players.

It is going to take multiple windows to rebuild this team, so I think this is the right approach. I am pretty sure we will have some holes to fill still even after this window, but buying too many first team players normally causes more problems than it resolves. Moriba has the potential to help the team this year, but even if we signed someone more established we have seen players take time to adjust to the premier league and settle anyway. As for signing someone from another English team, we won't get anyone good enough without spending a fortune.

Maybe concerns with his entourage and the fact there seems to be a preference of money over football? Not saying that's true or fact, but it's a concern especially on a 4 year deal

This Moriba stuff is yesterday’s chip paper ?

We need more signings, but it looks as though Aurier and Ndombele are holding up proceedings.

With Vinicius & Bale gone we need to get a move on. Can’t wait for the window to shut and then we can either celebrate or complain.

This seriously has gone over my head.

I have no idea what you are talking about, especially your 1st paragraph.

The fact that Leizip are across this is always an indicator that the player might be worth a look, they are no mugs when it comes to recruitment

It doesn't seem so black and white to me. I feel like we can be smart with transfers in order to both invest for the future and address current deficiencies in the squad. If Moriba comes in as our only signing at CM then I do hope you're right that he can help us already this season, otherwise it seems like bad planning to put all our eggs in one basket. We could get a less "mainstream" youth prospect and also sign a first-team ready player, for example. They don't have to be world beaters we just need to improve on Winks + Sissoko and balance out the squad.

That may be so, but I find it a little hard to believe they can't even afford to keep Moriba. They've got Messi off their books now. In any case I hope you're right and it's not just Spurs overpaying for somebody who may or may not be either the next Modric or the next Sissoko.

IIRC they still haven't been able to register Aguero. Even with him being injured he'd still be a priority to get on their books fully and they still can't even do that. They're well and truly fucked financially atm

So perfect chance for us to come in and take some of theirs
