think he's been doing fine lately

our attacking has been legendary for most of the games under Ramos - when AL Hudd Berbs Keane Defoe Steed are all going at it really is like watching Brazil

Is it time to replace Robinson?
RMY: No

Is Lennon a disappointment?
RMY: No

Nice work on the simple answers, RMY.

I don't think he's a disappointment - I think his form is patchy and I actually thought (as did the commentators on Sky - who I shockingly agreed with) that he did a great job of helping out Zokora at right back.

He's recently been very good, although a bit quiet in the two big wins at the Lane.

So no - he's only a disappointment if you built him up to be a World beater. Of which he may be capable some day but not yet. So it's a no from me too, Mr ThreadStarter.

They were closed questions!

Your whole post could just say "no" job fooking done! (then you could lock it.

I may start up a bring back Chris Hughton thread.

You do hear foreign coaches criticising the English system of bringing through young attacking players . They say we stifle their creativity ,drum into to them work rate and stop their risk taking tendencies ,dribbling and so on .

People saying he isn't a disappointment maybe have forgotten his incredible start for us and his swift elevation into the England set up ( from which he has equally swiftly disappeared)

People saying he's doing really well now mean that he's tracking back and scrapping a bit better for the ball . Its a very English concept of Lennon playing well imo .

Great dribblers are at their best when young and I fear the sheer dazzle that he once possessed has gone forever for whatever reason . We can all continue to hope though and at 21 maybe theres still a chance that worldbeater Lennon will return , but I'm not sure he will.

it baffles me how anyone can say that lennon hasnt been a dissapointment after all the promise he showed in his first season. he was a flying winger who had the beating of any defender, and who scored goals, playing a major part in the the should-have-been-4th season.

but last season he seemed to get been sussed out. yes he had an injury, but he still has his pace, and there is no reason for his lack of confidence and consistency.

he doesnt beat players any more, he doesnt score goals, he cannot cross, he doesnt track back, i honestly dont know what he does for the team. he shows one sign of brilliance every 3 or 4 games usually against a rubbish team. maybe we dont use him well enough, but he needs to move and get into the right positions instead of waiting on the wing where he always has 2 men on him.

compare his contribution in games to the likes of agbonlahor, ashley young, bentley.. its not good enough....

He seems to get dispossessed by his man alot lately and I thought he used to be able to be able to, more often than not, get around his man easily with his speed and trickery and some of his crosses recently have been abismal, althought the good outweigh the bad.

It's hard to critise Lennon as he's been a breath of fresh air since he signed for us. But he's not showing the variation of skill like he used to. It seems he's under team instruction to get the ball to the right and plant a cross. Fullbacks are sussing this out, especially Clichy for Arsenal when we played them.
We need Lennon in out team thou.

The big problem he is having is being the only player able to offer width currently. When we had Bale he was getting down the left a lot, either as a defender of midfielder, but with Steed and Lee on the left we have the classic problem that the left third of the pitch doesnt get used nearly enough, hence the opposition's left back and midfielder are not afraid to get really tight to Lennon even when the ball is on the opposite side of the pitch.

If he can get one on one with a player I feel confident he can get past him, and his end product is improving. But when he is doubled up he doesnt have the power to beat the men with strength, and ends up just passing it back to someone.

If he could add a standing cross, where he takes one touch to control the ball then whip it in before he looks to take the man on, we might get more ball into the box, but not enough people get into the box most of the time so it wouldnt be productive.

He is still far too young to say he wont get better, and like a lot of players, if we can tweak a few other areas or get people fit again we will see more from them.

The simple fact is Lennon was always overhyped by Spurs fans.

I really believe Routledge would have been a more effective player if things had gone differently.

I had no problem with his performance yesterday. The team was awful first half and what he did do was help Zokora with Young.

And I have said a couple of times in other Lennon threads, I think Ramos has generally started to get more effort out of the little fella. He set up vital goals against manC home & away and Portsmouth away recently for example. I personally think he's having his best season. First season he had the element of surprise. Last two seasons he's been double teamed everywhere. He's had to learn how to cope with that and also to contribute when the opposition have the ball. He's still learning but for me there are definate signs under Ramos of progress where under Jol there seemed to be stagnation.

And at the end of the day he's a winger. A 20yo winger. Not a right midfielder or utility player. Out and out wingers will always be a bit unpredictable won't they ???

If he goes through a dodgy patch there' always Malbranque, who spent a good chunk of his career at RM who may not be as quick but is a great little player and works hard.

Yes! I'm deeply upset by his dropping form. He was good against portsmouth, but all over he has been average, getting subbed very often. You don't see players of c.ronaldo caliber getting subbed after 50 min.

always over running the ball, proberly has the worst final ball out of all the wingers in the prem imo..

been saying hes been poor long before jol left...he can run fast though...

bale on the other flank is far more effective and scores more goals

if chelsea offered a str8 swap for SWP id take it without a second thought.

I beleive we have seen more to Lennons game recently than ever before. Yes, I agree with the fact that he hasnt looked his best when going foward and thats because teams know what he is all about now so they double up on him. Look at his defensive work recently, I think he has done extremely well helping out the RB and his crossing is a big improvement. He is only young and I firmly beleive he will be outstanding in seasons to come and a great assett to this club.

For me Lennon should be an impact sub with 20 minutes to go..i think he has become predictable and easy to defend against...and when i brought him on i would behind the strikers...his wing play is poor...Bale produces a dangerous cross at the end of his work..Lennon sprints and hits the first man which is pointless...i have become bored with it and his hype.

Yeah he has to me, i was expecting more from him this season. Still cant cross thats what pisses me of the most, cant get Berbatov one decent header and berbatov can header he got a fair share of headers for leverkusen in his last season, you know what this season i rate Lee more than a rate him all Lee needs to is learn how to cross.

Every since his first season he gone down hill, im embarrassed to see that Clichy has had him in his pocket in nearly derby.

Mabey im being harsh i dunno, i sure we must be the only team with a left winger who cant cross.

Aaron was superb today, switched wings at will and was easily our MOTM.

Watched a different game to me mate. Apart from 1 lovely ball through to JJ where was his end product? got in to loads of great positions but his final ball was shocking
