Did you read my entire post or just the beginning? The part about King was just to show that Barrett had his clients best interests at heart. At he end I wrote how Bales best interests were to join Real.

Sorry Einstein, very pleased for Chadli to get his first goal for us, as well as the Paulinho tap in but I stand by everything I say, £100m and still no evidence that any of them are going to be stars to light up the Lane or the Premiership. Evidence of ability ain't good enough for me considering the money invested as we already have a good squad.

Surely you have to allow players time to settle? Modric was hailed as the biggest flop in Spanish football last season, but now he's better than ever. Bringing in so many new faces at once was always a gamble. We need to give them time.

Isn't that exactly what you are saying?

The point is about whether we are better or worse for having sold bale and bought the players we did. On points and performances we are.

so we are better off on points for having sold Bale ......... highlighted the points, nothing unlighted throws the answer out of context
Saying we have more points because we sold bale is not the same as saying that we have sold bale and have more points.

As I said above it is open to debate. If we still had bale we would probably have more points but then we wouldn't have players who have contributed to the points we have so might have fewer.

The fact still remains though that we have more points per game this season without bale than we did last season with him.

Whether we had 1,2 or more of the new signings starting on Sunday, the main point I was making was that for the 7 players we acquired in the summer, for a combined cost of £100m, I don't think any of them as yet have proven that they're the best players in their respective positions at our club.

100m on 7 players is still only an average of 14m per player. A lot of money, but when compared to the likes of Mata, Fernandinho, Ozil, Fellaini and probably a bunch of other high-profile midfield moves recently I don't think they are doing that bad.

Soldado and Lamela have clearly flopped so far and they account for more than half the spend. So if you then consider the rest at an average of 10m/player then I'm not sure how you can complain about Paulinho, Eriksen, Capoue or Chiriches.

If we had bought 3 players at 30m each then I would agree with you - there hasn't been a really dominating run of form from any of them. But considering the flexibility and depth we have received from the signings I think it's tough to be critical of them.

Agree.

I think Paulinho and Eriksen have really started to show what they offer, whilst Capoue, when played, is clearly an asset. Chiriches was starting to look better before his injury and even Chadli has looked a useful squad member.

The cold hard facts are that Lamela and Soldado have been complete flops so far considering the money spent on them. Whether that's their fault or not we can't be sure, but so far the two players we were most excited by have both been very poor and that's very disappointing.

But let's not tar all the others with their brush.

That's fair, £50m-ish for Lamela and Soldado is a bigger problem IMO than the same amount for the others.
