Saying we're going to Portugal for a DM... apparently...

Veloso

A player from Porto, Sporting or Benfica? Is there anyone else playing in that league who is any good?

Um Lucho, but he isn't really a DM at all, but would still be a welcome addition.

Edit: The Man Utd interest would suggest Veloso, they were linked last year.

He hasn't said who... doesn't seem to know... claim that ManU are interested as well...

Sporting fans will be worried at news emanating from England, however, as rumours linking Miguel Veloso to a move to Manchester United gather pace. The stylish defensive midfielder has constantly been touted as the next young Portuguese star to make a big-money move abroad, with the Red Devils thought to be front-runners to capture his signature.

If ManU do go infor him, does that mean Carrick or Hargreaves is avalable?

It is Veloso we're going to talk about, and then hopefully with (Gonzalez is an ACM btw, albeit like Jenas or Gerrard a good tackler).

Long shot though. Man U are more interested in Moutinho but Arsenal could also be hovering now Flamini is going.

Big fingers crossed on this one. Would be a bigger coup than Modric.

Going by the article posted by chrissivad i would love Moutinho here aswell.

Everyime i've seen him he looks assured and never out of place. A portuguese guy i work with reckons he's ready for a move to a massive club and has been carrying Sporting for the last few years.

Archi don't write things just for "fun", so I am sure there is something to this story. Hope it's Miguel Veloso.
If ManU are after him I can't see Veloso being keen to be the understudy to both Carrick and Hargreves....unless Fergie want to use Hargreaves exclusively as RB from now on.

In the risk of sounding thick who does Veloso actually play for?

Not heard much about him for some odd reason which is unusual for me as usually lap this stuff up...

Sporting. Very classy and left footed.

Sporting Lisbon.

He's usually compared to Emmanuel Petit in style (right down to the crap ponytail). A very solid DM but who can pass and even shoot (remarkable after our years of Freund then Zokora!).

Veloso would be huge.

I'd hate ManUSA to get him. So unfair that they get to pick and choose. Do they really need him??!!?

Hope we go in big and early doors with cash like we did with Modric. I'm convinced the best way to deal with selling clubs is to go in with a big number and say the bid is only good for a fixed period of time and that we need an answer ASAP or we'll move on.

Going out for brunch now, please let there be positive updates on my return....

i rember watching him in the U21 championship. Not sure if it was the world cup or just Euros, but he has a good freekick on him as well.

Would be a great signing if we can get him.

I can't see Man U going for another defensive midfielder to be honest.

I'm sure I saw them linked to a Portugese Right Back who was said to be similar in style to Patrice Evra. They've also Micah Richards who presumably they would be looking at playing out of position at right back seeing as they already have one of the best centre back pairings in the league in Rio and Vidic.

Hargreaves would be wasted at defensive midfield imho but I'm surprised they manage to keep both Hargreaves and Carrick happy as they don't often start alongside each other...
