It's all been a process.

Over the past few years we've developed in every area but everything, especially the fact we partake in the UEFA cup regularly means that we are now finally able to attract the top kind of players. Beforehand, we had the money but players were rejecting us because of our lack of european football.

Even up to last year i'd question the signings of Kaboul,Boateng and Bent, all decent enough players in their own right but all a bit risky and not particularly what we needed.

It may be that Commoli is to blame, however i feel it is one of two things, n.o1 Commoli's signings on the whole haven't quite been fantastic given the money he's been able to spent which is one main factor in our inconsistency the fact that we keep realising certain players aren't good enough and we then have to go out and buy again.

2ndly we simply couldn't buy players of the required standard because we didn't have the pulling power of a side established in europe AND with stars such as Berby,Woodgate etc AND with a top class manager.

All these years seem to have been building blocks and it seems now our potentiol can finally be realised and we are making the signings on the right level.

Ok we can't say Modric and Dos Santos will be amazing, who knows but given their pedegree and track record it looks like we have signed two top class players. Add to that Hutton and Woodgate we are finally signing players who are good enough to take us to the next level and it shouldn't be too long before we get to a stage where we only really need to invest in youth or buy players to replace ones leaving as a result of a contract end.

This is very promising as a large player turnover isn't good. If we can establish a squad similar to the following we may finally settle with it, give our top class proven coach time to build and develop and we may reach the heights we deserve and...like Arsenal, sign few players-keeping a good team spirt and developing the players we do have:

NEW GK

Hutton Woodgate NEW CB Bale

BENTLEY Zokora Modric Dos Santos

Berbatov Keane

SUBS/reserves:
Hart/Alnwick
Chimbonda
Dawson
Kaboul
Eketto
Lennon
Huddlestone
Jenas
Malbranque
Bent

NEW YOUNG ST

See how players such as Jenas,Malbranque,Lennon,Dawson,Chimbonda are all subs/back-ups. Whereas at times we've rated these players as fantastic and 'capeable' to take us to the next level. I'm afraid we were blinded by their lack of ability and by buying REAL quality we won't need to KEEP FU***** buying more and more players.

Consistency please. Sign the right players, in the right positions of the right quality ASAP and lets settle down. Develop the young talent we have, build a new stadium and win everything....'In the Spurs style'

pretty much agree with everything!
Except I still hope a team of Doctors will mend Ledders and think Kaboul will come good. Im not entirely convinced Hutton is an upgrade on Chimbonda just a replacement because of the formers perceived bad attitude.
Also in regards to Commoli i think he cops way to much flak. Would things of really been that diferent under Arnesen? sure when Arnesen joined us his scattergun approach enabled us to upgrade our squad quickly but that couldn't continue. Not only that but he operated before the increase in tv money he got his players in cheaper so his failures/players that didnt perform to standard were less obvious. I admit we got our pants pulled down with Darren Bents fee but lets face it if Levy didn't think he was worth it he wouldn't of sanctioned it.

Everyone is saying it but with a quality DM and left winger a bit of luck and improved fitness i seriously think we will be on the verge of crashing the big 4's party hopefully at Arsenal's expense!

COYS!!!!

Its all coming together nicely. I think the club has a lot of the bases covered. We have gone from buying english players, to buying young english players, to getting players with proven ability and some potential to spare.

If we had qualified for the champs league without the uefa cup football our ranking would have been so poor that we would have faced a strong team in the qualifying rounds, and then been 4th seeds in the group if we made it that far. Now, if we do reach the CL we will be good enough to be ranked higher, get easier qualifying games and a better group draw.

We just need a couple of key signings for the short term (and they really are key. If we dont get them all the hard work over the last five years could go down the toilet), get CL football, then bring the youngsters through and expland the stadium and we will be ready to take our place at the highest table for years to come.
