Can I change my vote?

He was bad tonight, but fair play to One Day for getting him out at half time. Jol would have kept him on and it wouldn't have been pretty.

He is a good player with exceptional potential, whether he fulfills it or not is the question
that is relevant. He was always going to be a late developer due to his introverted personality.

Ah, nice to see his shrink beeing a member and posting on the forum.

When will you realise that he's never ever gonna be quality for us...or anyone else for that matter. Huddlestone made him look like an idiot yesterday.......and Jenas wouldn't be able to make 10% of the passes that The Hudd spotted out and completed.

Jermaine Jenas is a very good player, it has been clear IMO that the man needs a rest.... ever since he received that ankle injury JJ has looked out of sorts and his trade make running has been restricted (to compare JJ game to Huddlestone is just silly, both are completely different players).

I don't think we should look to much into his substitution at half-time against Chelski, he'll bounce back after a rest.

I don't think he'll command a regular place next season, i hope Juande is giving some serious backing and that the guy can bring in the quality players(with consistant performances) he wants, jenas doesn't have that level of consistancy.

The main gripe I have with him though is with his inconsistency and, seemingly, his attitude. Under Uncle Bobby he threatened to become a Gerrard-like figure but somehow just didn't produce it. At Spurs, he's shown glimpses of being that player but it's always been one very good game, four rubbish ones. He's now 25, coming to three years at Spurs, and if he hasn't stepped up, the question is, will he ever?
Exactly what I came here to type. We are now just about due the one or two MOTM performances from JJ over the next couple of games. But then he will lose it again for a handful of games. So frustrating. Ramos subbing him against chel$ki shows he is running out of patience with him I believe. Cannot 'build the midfield' around him.

I said on a previous post that he's already had his purple patch of about 5 games this season. That's about as much consistency as we will ever get from him. Thankfully it came around the time of our Carling Cup success.

He shows he can be a very good player. Sadly he never shows it often enough or consistently enough. Time for someone better.

For the first time last night it occured to me that Jenas could actually be on his way out. The stick that Robbo gets for his long punts that bypass the midfield made me think that Ramos doesn't rate him as highly as the media have led us to believe. After half time Robbo cut out a lot of the long balls, playing it instead from the back through Huddlestone. We'll see I guess.

Hmmm, interesting view

Worth thinking about. :)

i think Jenas suffers palying next to Zokora, Zokora is a goodish player but Jenas suffers and IMO changes his game to try and cover back mroe along with Zokora, take Zokora out of the midfield and put someone who will be able to do the job there and let Jenas push forward more and we will see the better of him again!

Not knocking Zokora, as i said a good player on his day, but him and Jenas just dont work!! and i would rather ahve Jenas than Zokora

I'm a Jenas fan... but do you not think last night was a good case for Zokora and Huddlestone, rather than JJ and Huddlestone? In the second half our midfield was hugely improved - not hard I know - from the first half.

JJ had a WOEFUL night last night and the fact that this board isn't murdering him shows how much constant goals against The Scum helps him win us over!

I only listened to the radio commentary, but inside the first three or four minutes (if that) Parry was complaining that he'd got caught dithering on the ball and given away possession. Apart from the free-kick, did he actually do anything of note?

On the face of it, he has all the attributes to become a great CM, but it does seem there is something vital missing. A few weeks ago he really looked as if he was stepping up, and now here we seem to be going again. I want to back the guy, but come on, gimme some help. When Lennon wins more tackles than your supposedly key CM, it's time to worry.

I always thought Hudd and Zoko together in central midfield were a no-no, but on the evidence of last night I'm starting to wonder. And yes, on the subject of Robbo's punts, it does look as if he's under orders to bypass the midfield if there's no hope of any contribution there.

i think Jenas suffers palying next to Zokora, Zokora is a goodish player but Jenas suffers and IMO changes his game to try and cover back mroe along with Zokora, take Zokora out of the midfield and put someone who will be able to do the job there and let Jenas push forward more and we will see the better of him again!

You see, this is where I start to wonder. It's a viewpoint I've taken in the past, but should Jenas be that dependent on who he's partnered with? Instead of querying JJ's partner, shouldn't we start to question JJ himself?

Jenas did well early in the year for us and earned rave reviews from everyone. The whole time he was playing alongside hudd and co with out a sniff of Zoko who was at AN... I thought he was fantastic when paired with decent footballers like tainio, hudd, boeteng.. The way zoko plays makes jenas track back too much and loses his natural attacking game.. This is very obvious to see.

With regard to Jenas I think the answer is: Sometimes.

Sometimes he's very good, as per against Ar5ena1 in the league cup.

Sometimes he's not, as against Cheatski last night.

The problem, then, is consistency and that's something we seem to lack more or less throughout the team. He's definitely one of our better central midfielders and I would expect him to be here next season, whether he's first choice or not will probably depend on who we are able to buy. Playing alongside a better player might help him to step a level on a more regular basis.
