that is about as moronic as it's possible to get.. I suggest you nip over to Dublin and inform the locals they're all British, I'm sure they'll be delighted to point out where you're going wrong

Ireland may not be in Great Britain but it is part of the British Isles so you could in a way say irish people are british. well sort of anyway.

Not in Dublin or Cork or Galway you couldn't, unless you wanted to risk a good kicking, and I'd check which part of Belfast or Derry I was saying it in, too.

reporter "when will it go away?"
Keane "it'll go away when you stop asking when will it go away"

Lol, missed that second part. He was the same to the knob from Five after that game, he pratically stormed off. Good for him, it's ridiculous how the media are trying to turn everything into a Jol issue. Although to be fair to the reporter it was more about how the players feel about Jol. I think a quick "We think he's great, we just wish people would stop trying to undermine him"

I've felt that Keane has been our best and most consistent player this season.

You have to hand it to Keane..to me his still an enigma.
First he's called British, and now he's called Enigma, is that like Irish, sort of British but not really .

Jackie Charlton once said that Keane needs the ball played in front him to allow him to strike with the first or second touch. Fair play to Berbatov :clap:for supplying the kind of ball that Niall Quinn used to years ago which made Keane the record Irish goal scorer by his mid 20's.

If only Berbatov could be a bit more "British" and use his height to clear a few balls out of defense during set pieces like dear old Mido used to do.

PS. Circa 20% of Irish are British, the rest of us just watch the TV, support the soccer teams, join with the Welsh and Scots in trying to defeat the ould enemy, and are glad every other country learns to speak English as a second language while we struggle with the cupla focal gaeilge.

Hadnt been that impressed about his start to the season, but could say that of Berba and many other players as well. i thought yesterday was his best performance of the season so far, two good assists from Berba as well

You are right. But my point was that the fact Keane took excellently the penalty vs Villa does not imply that he was impressive as a striker. Today he was excellent as an out and out striker. By my lights, he should play as a pure striker and not try to link up the game cause he is better doing the first one.

What top teams do is defend as a team, attack as a team and play through midfield as a team. Good players cover when the opposition has the ball, and find space ready to receive the ball when their teammates have it. Keane did not play against Liverpool as an out and out striker: he never does. He is a team player.

It never ceases to amaze me that Keane is criticised for his work and movement off the ball, and is even called an enigma because of it, and Defoe is excused when he fails do so, and the rest of the team are criticised, because "there is too big a gap between midfield and the strikers". Fulham away, anyone?

One of the best things Defoe can do to get his career back up and running is to spend a game in the stands, purely watching Keane, and treating it as a masterclass. The other is to learn a little composure when striking for goal. He has it within him: Wigan at home last season, and his first goal against Anorthosis at home this season come to mind. The Defoe versus Keane "contest" should have long since been despatched to the archives, since Keane is so much more valuable to the team, but I can't help feeling that the irrational attachment some fans still have for Defoe, a player who has conspicuously failed to develop since he joined the Club, is the reason behind their lack of appreciation for the contribution of Keane.

Having said that, if we were to buy or develop a better player for the team than Keane, then by all means play him instead. Currently that is far from the case.

as i said in another thread, i honestly would rather keane in the team than rooney.

I think rooney is possibly the most over rated player and robbie keane is certainly the most under rated.

Someone on here said Keane 'finished well' against Liverpool. He didn't - he finished marvellously. I am not his biggest fan, not because of his play, just because I think he restricts Defoe's chances but on this form - he's first choice.

i do think we need to drop Keane for Defoe or taarabt.

Nah just kidding. I was wrong.

But I get to be happy either way!

Still pissed we couldn't hang on to the victory though :(.

<3 Keane again.

I'm with you on that one miles. That second goal nearly made me do something in my pants!

Keane is a far better player when he plays on the last man....when he drops off I really get pissed off with him because he slows the game down and doesn't really create anything tbh.

As an out and out striker his a different player hence the word enigma (cant work him out...)

I really would like to shoot few ones from here. So you're sayin that keano is shit even he's our most consistent player with tainio. After I spoke to tainio some time ago, he really expressed that even he loves this club, this might be the worst place to play as fans are so critical. So think about that assholes, all of us bring too much pressure to players cos you are so fucking ****s who demand more than we are capable of, you little pricks!!!

Keane's suddenly become an enigma on this thread.

Just wait till he misses another 1-on-1...

Not trying to curse the team. I admire Keane. He's good at volleys and scores fabulous goals. An instinctive striker who has improved over the last few years.

I just can't stand the exaggeration you sometimes see with fans. I mean better than Rooney? geez..
