So next season our CBs are Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dawson, Caulker + one.

Levy says he'll only pay the wages of one of King or Gallas. Which one do we keep?

King is the soul of the team (in the sense that Modric's the heartbeat and vdV's the brain). Our tailsman club captain. 3 years younger than Gallas. An injury situation that we understand and can manage. Out of contract so we can negotate an extention on our terms.

Gallas is one of only 3 players (along with vdV and Parker) at the club with winning mentality. He's very fit for his age and his injuries tend to be quite normal/typical in type. One year left on his (very well paid) contract

Both have shown signs of age/injury catching up with them. But then as soon as you start writing them off they'll put in world class displays.

Which stays, which goes?

When did Levy say he'd only pay the wages of one of King or Gallas?

He hasn't (as far as I know). It's a hyperthetical question. I think it's a likely situation though.

My suspicion last summer though was that he told Redknapp he could only keep 2 of King, Gallas and Woodgate.

I think we'll have both. I suspect that Caulker will stay at Swansea for one more season.

Is that wise?

Might it be an impediment to the development of the Kaboul-Vertonghen partnership having both of those players around the place overshadowing them?

I think Gallas has more top games left in him, but Ledley can't just leave the club.

Gallas and King would be reliable, good character, willing odd-spot starters and bench participants.

Having Caulker around if he isn't in real contention achieves nothing. He's not experienced enough to be situationally reliable, it'll hinder his development and his dressing room character.

Also, wonder what role Bruno Uvini might have to play.

Stupid thread

Why?

25 man squad consideration and two, almost past-it, injury-plagued defenders on very large wages (also bearing in mind that our wage limit is a on squad total, not an amount for individuals). We might have to shift one to be able to bring in Hazard or Ade.

Caulker will have played 100 appearances something that no other current CB has achieved before their 21st birthday, if we ever needed to play someone because of their future potential it is him

Keep both and loan out Caulker on 3 months stints.

He will be in the England team next season and why loan out a international CB next season
