I haven't seen a lot of Huntelaar but is he the kind of striker who could partner Keane or Defoe or would he be another Bent/Pavlyuchenko who offers goals but doesn't seem to contribute a lot more to the team? If he doesn't contribute more than goals, surely it would be better to a) go for someone like RVN who is excellent at holding the ball up too or b) buy two stikers, one being Huntelaar and the second someone who works with him.

I have, and yes, he is. He doesn't look any quicker than Pav, either. I don't think he'd be an Alves-style flop in the EPL, but if anyone's expecting the kind of goal return he produced for Ajax they're likely to be disappointed.

His agent's latest :

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is yet to receive any offers according to his agent.
The Holland international is expected to leave Real Madrid only six months after joining the Santiago Bernabeu outfit, with Tottenham and Roma believed to be on his tail.

But his agent Arnold Oosterveer has confirmed there has not been any enquiry for the striker, who is yet to hold talks with the club’s new bosses Florentino Perez and Jorge Valdano.

“I have not met Florentino Perez and Jorge Valdano yet, but he is under contract for four years and is part of Real Madrid’s plans,” he told Calcio Mercato.
“We haven’t been told anything by the directors and no meeting has been planned with them.”

He added: “I haven’t been contacted by Roma. No team have asked for Huntelaar and all the rumours come from the press, including in England.”

If we sign Huntelaar, it means we've learned nothing from Pav. The guy is a good finisher and that's it. I asked this question in another thread, but how many times have JKH even managed to touch the ball in the last month? In his second to last game, I think he had 2 shots and that were the only touches I remember him having. In his last game, I'm fairly certain he didn't even touch the ball once. If he's this badly off the pace in La Liga, then what's it going to be like in the Prem. The Madrid fans can't believe how poor he is on the ball. He has the speed of Sheringham. And despite being tall, he's got even less physical strength than Pav. Persoanlly i think those who rate him can't look past his goal scoring record in Holland. Yet we've seen time and time again this doesn't mean much. If he came to Spurs and had a better goal scoring record than Bent has had over the last couple of seasons I'd be very suprised. The biggest joke is when JKH gets compared to RVN.

I really do think this would be a shocking signing. If Harry wants this kind of player then surely he would be better to keep what we already have. I disagree with the thought that he is better than Bent. Bent, at least has both pace and premiership experience. His return last season, given his match time, was impressive but I would imagine had he knocked in 30 goals he would still be derided by many.

Personally, I really dont believe we need to be shopping in the striker department but if we are then surely RVN would be a better buy. Even at 33 he has so much more to his game than Huntelaar and would cost very very little (bar his wage damands) and he is unlikely to get any better offers at this stage in his career.

It's blindingly clear that after almost a full year that we still haven't got that Berbatov replacement and nor will we as long as we are looking at this kind of player.

Don't be a silly-billy Bubble, Kanoute blatantly won't come back to us and loves it in Seville.

Plus he's probably a bit too old now at 32.

Oh and I preferred your old sig way more to your current one... ;-)

What do you lot think?
RVN > KJH
or
KJH > RVN

I'm not too sure, but I think that RVN would be a better signing

I think if you look at what RVN had done by the age that KJH now is, you have got to pick the former. Even though it would only be a short term signing, he is a class above his apprentice.

I think media are adapting a scatter gun approach.
They're bound to get one Dutch right I think they've moved onto Robben now,VDV tomorrow.
I think the target is RVN.

lol i was watching the holland v norway game and i was thinking is there a single player on the dutch team we havent been linked with yet. soon they'll just picking players with dutch sounding names.

of all the dutch players we have been linked with (real madrid and not) the ones i would love to see at spurs are robben and sneijder (who i dont think will come). huntelaar would be better than rvn but i dont like the idea of signing players on loan without the idea of making it permenent and by the sound of it if huntelaar came to spurs he would be doing it just to put himself in the market window.

I'm not at all sure that he is, and as Real will want to recoup the £20m-odd they shelled out a suck-it-and-see one season's loan deal seems a good idea to me. He's touted as the new RvN, but I'd sooner have the original. I've watched a lot of Ajax games over the past couple of seasons and I'm really not convinced he has the pace or the power to succeed in the EPL—and he creates very little.
