Liverpool have overtaken Man City & Arsenal for the amount paid in wages, which is over double ours.

Klopp: "Sadio Mane needs surgery. We're not 100% sure when it will happen. It's clear - season over."

Cheers for posting that.
They are all double ours, and some even more, and just goes to show what a great job Levy and Poch are doing. Surprised it has not received more focus in the press, but guess it goes against the normal view of high spending, underachieving Spurs.

They must be paying some of their shitty defenders so much!

Crazy to think of the huge gaps in the squads of the 'big' teams, bar Chelsea, particularly in defence where we are really strong, considering the wages they shell out.

Mane out for rest of seasons is a big loss for them.

Do we still have to play them again?

Am I the only one who read Carragher's comments as 'while he's good enough to play for Spurs, if he wants to play week in week out he needs to go down a level' rather than 'if he wants to play regularly he needs to go down a level and play for Spurs'?

Maybe you're the only one who read his comments at all  I just ignore everything he says, the man is a fuckwit.

If this is true I would be shitting it if I was a Liverpool fan.

It's unsustainable and the club will cannibalize itself. Their wages are supposedly over 70% of their turnover and that's incredibly dangerous for any club not run by a Russian mobster or Oil magnate.

You also have to consider the amount of additions their team needs. Their starting XI needs work as is but the squad as a whole needs a massive amount of work too. More than can be accomplished in one window without causing massive squad upheavel and a complete flux of cohesion. They'll likely be going into European competition and considering they could barely handle the Premier League and Klopp complained massively about fixture congestion this year I can't wait to see how he handles it with Europe as well.

They'll be buying more than selling and if that's their wage bill now I can't believe what it's going to be when the summer is done. The only high earner they'll likely offload is Sturridge and they'll likely be bringing in 4 or more high earners this summer.

I also think it will be a massive failure for them to not get top 4 this year as I think it will be even tougher for them in the future to do so.

There's also what I like to call the Bentley effect (or Ade effect, whatever floats your boat) where a mediocre or massively underperforming player on high wages has absolutely no incentive to join another club for lower wages.

If Klopp wants to rebuild his squad he'll need to shift players. That's a problem if Liverpool have given them wages that others aren't interested in matching.

I think he's intimating he'd have to be back up to Kane at Spurs or go down a level and he first choice.

It's also a problem if he's trying to build on what he's got and not shuffle the pack around.

Like I said the only high earner I can see them selling is Sturridge.

You forget how desperate West Ham are. Permanently injured player on over £100k a week? No problem!

Sakho and Lucas Leiva will go who are also on relitavely high wages, although I'm not sure they should sell Sakho, I think he's a good player

Moreno may go as well, but I suspect those players aren't the massive earners.

Although funnily enough isn't Milner one of the massive earners there?

That said Sakho, Lucas, and Moreno will all need replacing and it will be interesting to see what players they try to bring in to do so. They desperately need a good CB to partner Matip and to get a proven one is going to likely cost them.
