Diaz is a fantastic player, I do really rate him.

But at the same time, hes not yet shown to be able to rack up the numbers Mane and Salah had done.

That's probably premature of me to say, as he's only been there 5 mins. But I do think it highlights the need for someone other than Salah to step up because in these last couple of months their frontline has flagged a little.

It's still scoring but probably not at the free flowing rate it had been.

And Kulu is all about the end product - just not quite as eyecatching. I know who I'd rather have at Spurs.

What struck me after Madrid went ahead was that I was watching a replay of our game at Anfield three weeks ago. Liverpool huffed and puffed for an hour but failed to blow down or even particularly rattle our defence or Madrid's. They created half-chances during that hour but Courtois pulled off one excellent save (from Mané) and Hugo's worst moment was a wayward Sessegnon headed clearance. The other chances Liverpool created in both games were either straight at the keepers or off target.

Madrid were cautious and didn't try to fight fire with fire, but still looked a threat on the break. Despite conceding possession they were unlucky to go in 0-0 at half-time. Second half Son scores for us on 56 minutes, Vinicius on 60 minutes. And in both games you could sense the energy and belief draining away from Liverpool. They got a deflected equaliser on 73 minutes against us when we'd silenced the home crowd and were in control. Madrid did the same but nearly conceded from a Salah shot (deflected off Jota) on 80 minutes. Unlike Bentancur, last night's deflection took the pace off Salah's shot and Courtois saved easily enough, while Hugo had no chance.

TAA's crosses and shooting in both games were absolute shit throughout, by the way. Never mind his defending. Our goal came from Sessegnon attacking the Liverpool RB position from the left where TAA should have been and and there's literally five Liverpool players between TAA and the position he's supposed to be defending when Son finishes. Tonight Vinicius drifts in from the left, same as Sess, and TAA is AWOL again. Sess squared it to Son, Vinicius buried it.

TAA was awful last night. Strutting around like he was David Beckham pinging balls all over the shop but his quality in the final third was terrible.

Yeah there's a lot of revisionism going on already. Courtios made one save from each of Mane and Salah that very few other keepers would ever get near and had a lot of work to do all of the first half.

Liverpool only really had the huge Salah chance in the second half and were really poor that half, and that makes people forget how dominant they were for much of the first.

Uefa and the French blaming “fake tickets“ now. Andy Robertson was just on, who obviously got legit tickets through the club, but his friends weren’t allowed in because the police said they were fake.

One of my colleagues at TV 2 Norway was caught right in the middle of a tear gas incident when he was trying to interview fans who had tickets but were stuck outside, after the match had been started.

Then the gates were locked and nobody, not even his cameraman who was fully accredited, were allowed back in.

Complete and shameful shambles.

Yeah, this season at Porto was the first time he ever put up elite numbers as a goalscorer. Before that he was more of a Saint-Maximan style player who would give defenders nightmares but only score a handful each season.

Maybe he will step up like Salah and Mane did and become a proper goalscorer, but fingers crossed that was a purple patch and he reverts back to being a tricky dribbler who doesn't score too often.
