If this goes into effect this upcoming season like the article suggests it could, would PL just get 3 entrants if Arsenal lose the EL final?

I'd assume Arsenal would get the spot. I remember multiple cases where the next lower team in the table gets the European spot when they couldn't compete.

I also suppose if Arsenal won the EL that United would get the 4th league spot for England.

If uefa don’t follow through with it then ffp is dead.

The third from last paragraph struck me as to why it’s doomed to failure. Although hopefully uefa are arrogant enough not to care. They probably are with any luck:

“Their decision to press forward in seeking punishment against Manchester City could have serious implications for UEFA, which essentially would be accusing a team backed by the U.A.E.’s royal family of cheating and lying to a range of stakeholders, including the Premier League, as it built itself into a champion.”

In this case I think that circumstance actually makes it more likely that action is taken. The U.A.E. has been in deep conflict with Qatar, and diplomatic ties have been comletely cut. UEFA and FIFA are obviously on the Qatari side of things - if there's strings being pulled and politics played, it'll be working against City this time (but in favour of PSG).

I'd assume Arsenal would get the spot. I remember multiple cases where the next lower team in the table gets the European spot when they couldn't compete.

I also suppose if Arsenal won the EL that United would get the 4th league spot for England.

It's treated as though City don't exist. So yes, Arsenal qualify for the CL, but United still can't - just as Chelsea winning the EL doesn't give a place to Arsenal, Arsenal "double-qualifying" by winning the EL and being the 4th-best team bar City doesn't give a place to United. The "top four" going into the CL is Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal, while Man United and Wolves make the Europa to be joined by either Watford or Everton depending on the cup final result.

I'd imagine they'll drag the appeals out so far it won't affect next seasons competition, which is good as Arsenal would potentially get the spot.

I couldn't bear to the thought of Woolwich slipping in the back door like that, after we got shafted and kicked out the back door when Chelsea won the CL.

The only team in the history of the competition to have been denied by that shabby ruling.

A rather knowledgable chap on talksport giving chapter and verse on the City situation reckons the chance of the ban coming in for the coming season is nil to not a chance so shame about the arsenal.:)

Is it or is it the media drumming up a story about nothing to try and get people offended?

I heard elsewhere that some of the players sang along with the chorus (whatever that is)

But half of them dont even speak Manqish so probably don't know what they were singing or karaoking to..
.
It's hardly up there with "If I die on Kippax Street"
.
Just another attempt of pity/victim culture from Liverpool - the Nation's luvvies.d

I’d be pretty disappointed if that was our players. And I’m pretty sure Poch would be too.

Fairly unprofessional but I think that's the extent of it. They didnt write the song and are just singing a song they've heard the fans singing without really thinking about the meaning of it. Yes it's a bit uncalled for celebrating someone get injured but I don't think they've really thought about it too much, and as someone else said earlier, half the players only joined in with the chorus and probably weren't even listening to the words properly and/or only half understand the lyrics anyway if they're foreign.

Bit uncalled for, unprofessional, fair enough. But to say it's an "outrage" or "vile" is clutching at straws IMO. It's not like they're singing about Hillsborough or something.

Liverpool fans are calling for City to be docked two points from this season’s total and Spurs to be immediately kicked out of Europe.

Then they heard about some song City players were singing.
