Is that Pep quote real? He wants a break? The same day Kane says he's staying? He must hate us!

It was always planned when he signed a 2 year extension.

I do wonder if it was a mistake to confirm it, and whether they'll have a Redknapp / England or Ferguson / First Retirement (2002) situation though.

Holy fucking shit, that makes the allegations against a certain Everton player we know well seem like small fry.

Even if Mendy were to be aquitted there's no way he can make it back into professional football.

The police must be fairly sure they have a case to actually name-drop him like that?

If true, I hope he's sent straight to jail for ruining these women (or men, the police article doesn't say). Fucking idiot.

Edit: Just moderated myself a bit.

Couldn't have happened at a better club
I'm really against dropping the name into the public sphere before at least the trial is underway tbh.

Ideally it wouldn't be released before conviction (or aquittal).

Just a reminder, don't post anything libellous and you're responsible for what you post.

Absolutely agree, that's why I (sort of) asked. I'm not sure how it works in England, but I was surprised to see the police themselves reporting his name in the press release. You'd think there were laws that governed doing that before the person has been sentenced.

Yes you probably know of the SK Brann situation going on right now in Norway and, well, we all (edit: all Norwegian football fans) know who the player under investigation for rape is but there's no way in hell his name will be made public before the trial if there is one.

Things definitely work differently in the UK and in this case certainly not for the better IMO.

How do these footballers make soooooooooo much money and still have to resort to this??? There must be some hard proof for this surely, otherwise maybe it could be a setup. I can't imagine footballers to be that thick....then again

This came out last year in November and everyone thought it was Greenwood because the report was a player in the Manchester area, guess we know who it was then, false imprisonment though, Jesus
