and go straight to Alexandre Gaydamak and offer him all 32m from the Berbatov transfer to sign Jermain Defoe (13m) Peter Crouch (10m) and Glen Johnson (9m) and play Vedran Corluka central midfield in a 4-4-2

Adams may not like it but Gaydamak wouldn't give a shit because a) he is selling the club and b) Adams will resign and will therefore not need to pay any compensation

We can sell plently of deadwood to get back at least 10-15m

Anyone with me on this?

Yeah I am, but will never happen..

I reckon in Jan we will sign Downing and Bellamy for around £25mil in total...

Bellamy won't come to us. Downing might and to be fair i prefer him to Bentley but he is not worth 15m but neither was Bentley or Bent.

We don't need Defoe, we already have two strikers + one loanee that are out-and-out goalscorers with little else to their game, we don't need another one.

I'd take Crouch though. But I'd prefer a stronger version of him like Heskey or Kenwyne Jones.

I don't see a real need for Johnson right now - how many RBs do we need?

If Corluka isn't playing than Gunter plays.

Would still be a good signing but not needed right now.

Crouch - yes, Defoe will cost us too much now, according to Harry, so no.

That, my friend, is an incredibly good shout! Yes, forget Defoe, Kenwyne would be a top class signing.

All the names mentioned in this thread so far depress me. Sounds a bit like we are building a team to win the championship next season if they are the calibre of signings we are looking at.

If we've got £30m then buy a LM/#10 and a DM for £15m each and see how suddenly our defence looks solid, our midfield has creativity and Pav and Bent actually aren't so bad strikers.

we need to get realistic. we're not going to be attracting top class players any time soon.

I think we'll have to go abroad to be honest. I really cant see teams in the Premier League selling their best players. With the table so tight this season, any team outside the top 6 could be relegated. And relegation would cost clubs a lot more than the players we're being linked with. It sounds like the Boro chairman feels the same about Downing. Why would they sell their key players to Spurs when they're fighting us to survive? And who would want to join us at the moment in the Premier League anyway?

I think we'll have to take risks by going abroad. Maybe go for Falcao. He'll be available for a reasonable price. Its a big risk to bring someone like him into the Premier League, but he can only add towhat we have. I think he'd be a good replacement for Campbell, so we could send him back to Utd. And with Cavenaghi said to be interested in a move to Spurs, then he could be another option. And Podolski would add to the frontline too, and could also fill in on the left. So Podolski and one of Falcao or Cavenaghi would be my shout up front. I'd love Arshavin instead of Podolski, but i just cant see it happening now.

I dont see Johnson being important at all. We dont need defenders at the moment. We would really need a good defensive midfielder to partner Modric in centre midfield. If we cant get one then i think Jenas would have to play that role in defensive midfield for the rest of the season. But If we could get someone like Inler, then go all out and get him in.

Inler, Podolski and Cavenaghi/Falcao

Marcos Senna wants to make a transfer to the Premier League for a final pay day (brown nosing Man City these days), and his club is willing to sell since he's in decline but still worth a lot. He'll only last two season or so, but I say pay the money - probably £8m or so and more wages than anyone else at the club.
Demotion is far more expensive.

Podolski would be gold - would love him.

Crouch would be good too - and if we can get Keane back as well - would be a great frontline again (along with Bent).

Inler is a very good DM too - but it all comes down to pirice tag...

offer Bentley to man city get our F***king money back thats the first thing i would do.don't want crouch but we do need a lump who can hold the ball up and get on the end of things, would also go for Matt Derbyshire of Blackburn good goalscorer think he has about 6or7 goals this season and thats from the bench.JD is a must we need him back badly but i think he will end up at villa unless he wants to come back to London.

This is it for the club - the window & 2nd half of the season. Balls it up & things will be very messy for a long time. Disgruntled fans, championship football, player exodus, media bullshit & more. We'll be a bigger scalp in the championship than West Ham ever were.

Are players going to want to sign for a club in a relegation battle? Which players are up for a fight that we own or can sign? Players from abroad will take us for everything we've got, UK based players will do the same. They'll get their contracts while the going's good then fuck off somewhere else.

The JJ's, Hudd's, Bentley's won't care; they'll get moves to Villa, Everton, Newcastle etc. Our desire for foreign flair & young potential has backfired massively this season. The players that know the league are useless & the players that don't end up suffering.

I think Harry might have to do what he did at Pompey; sign fringe players from top clubs. It's embarrasing for us, I know, but what else can we do?

At present I think we'll end up 3rd bottom & to be honest I think we'll deserve it. I don't see much in the squad that can help us right now & weirdly enough it's the midfield & strikers which will send us down. The back 5 have been our high points this season.

marcos senna is a great shout, the experience we need to bring on the others..

and defoe may be overpriced , but would certainly provide more value than perhaps bent, bentley, downing

should be looking at : defoe, mido, heskey, owen, zaki, arshavin, senna, capel, hangerland, distin, hunt, zamora

southgate secretly wants somebody to buy downing so he can give 'boro a shot in the arm with a couple of players, i hope we are not the club that helps 'boro, though a fee of around ten million would make the talented though somewhat paceless downing a much more reasonable acquisition..

and then there's krancjar.. probably our first signing silently approaching under the radar? :D
