The problem is that the England speculation has coincided with the drop in form. Other than the Newcastle match directly after Redknapp's aquittal and Capello's sacking we have been on a downward spiral...which actually started with the Stevenage FA Cup match.

When you have our own players (Bale) saying that Redknapp should take the England job, how can there be any doubt at the damage the situation has caused.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...as I write this Chelsea are about to go level on points with us. How are we going to turn it around???

I think it's largely coincidental. People who don't follow Spurs will parrot that line endlessly but we imploded last season as well. Bale said we wouldn't miss him-I was unclear as to whether it was some sort of April Fool article.

I don't see us turning this around-and I say that on the basis of what I saw last season.

Sorry Misfit. That was kind of poor timing by me.
You're not wrong though. Levy has made mistakes and seemingly learnt lessons but really, Harry was only brought in to steady the ship. Not sure anyone, that day when the news broke thought, "ah, now here's the guy to lead us into the CL."

So, has he learnt lessons after all and we can relax, knowing he'll getterdun!, or is this a potential self-fisting in the making again?

We won't be in Europe next season most likely, if Everton get to the cup final. So the Europa League might not be a problem for us. This summer is going to be a big one. Bale, Modric, VDV will all probably leave, Adebayor's loan deal will end. There will be a lot of spaces to fill.

Presumably Harry will leave for England, this will leave the new guy with a lot of work to do. I suspect we will be a lot more like Everton/Fulham, with players like Dempsey and Pienaar key for us. We will have to make a profit on transfers to build the new stadium, so I think Moyes might be the next manager (If Harry goes). The future is probably quite mediocre for the next few seasons.

That scenario would be disastrous for Levy and ENIC.

I agree, but it is looking quite likely. Who can we attract who will want to come and build a team on the cheap? How can we spend cash on transfers, build a new training ground and ground and compete at the top table on relatively low wages?

I don't agree with blaming Levy at all.

The players are not performing and Harry has been inflexible with squad selection which has led to fatigue. Also Harry mollycoddles the players a lot. Oh how having someone like Craig Bellamy in that changing room to tell a few home truths would give a few kicks up arses right now.

Levy has transformed the club off the pitch and given everything to transform it on the pitch.

This same group of players was fighting for the title up til February - the same group's current failures has to be down to them not lack of investment. Only QPR invested in January and look at the "quality" of player they got. Even City ended up getting David bloody Pizzarro who cost them the game yesterday.

Well Harry wanted him 2 years ago so Levy takes some blame there....

Levy is not to blame. He has backed his manager the best he can. We need to get the best out of what we have, because at the moment we are not doing so. Livermore and Parker might have been a better option today as Luka seems off it somehow.

At least they tried to strebgthen their squads. All we did was weaken our squad significantly during the transfer window.

The whole club needs a lift.

Wether that is a signing on a pre contract like Modric was or even some positive news on the stadium.

Everything has been so negative lately, from redknapp leaving to modric and bale also seemingly happy to go.
Our performances have lacked something for a long while now.
King needs to be steered towards a coaching role. Missing Dawson big time and gallas has looked twice the player of Ledley recently despite being out with an injury for a while.

No ambition in January and it's biting us on the bum now, should have kept Pienaar and Charlie as backup, Instead of Cahill or Samba we get Nelsen.
Says it all about our ambition. We haven't spent anything of note for 2 seasons.

So pissed off right now.

Sort it Levy.

So would I.

Nothing worse than a horrible run. But even tonight, the worst place we can be is 4th - with 5 games to go.

In 2010, we had 6 games to go after losing to Sunderland 3-1. We had to play Arsenal, Chelsea, United and City. And no-one thought we'd have a chance.

We've got through tougher. We can get through this.

I think I'm starting to BELIEVE again.

BELIEVE.

Well, if were a big club then we need to think like a big club and that goes for the fans too. WHL has been a bit anxious on a number occasions over the last few months and we all need to push aside these frustrations and anxieties and believe we can do it. At the end of the day this team have proved countless times we can do it and we can do it again.

BELIEVE and the belief on match days will rub off onto the players :)

Thing is though, we've got downwards momentum at the moment, whereas Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle are collecting good results - we're really getting ourselves into a hole which is becoming increasingly difficult to crawl out of.

That is just an excuse. Did Arsenal think that before they went on their winning streak?

Um. I do have a problem with this "weaken" business. Mainly because it's a lazy analysis.

Saha > Pav.

Nelsen > Bassong.

Maybe slightly with Pienaar. But not one of you would rather Pienaar started over Kranjcar - so we're talking subs here. We've mixed up our subs a bit. Our first team has not been weakened; hell, Saha's made a tangible impact.

Off of wiki from what I can work out.

Yep. VDV is the only really tangible signing - an upgrade, if you will, of real quality.

I'd include Ade too but he's not really our player.
