I suppose its a good sign when you win 3-1 away, but still feel frustrated. If we weren't so sloppy up top, and at the back, it should have been 5 or 6 nil. Shouldn't worry too much about it, but very frustrating.

3 more points though, and closer to qualification.......COYS!!

Thought Bergwijn made some poor decisions when he came on
He did, the one where we were breaking and he picked the wrong pass to son I think was one that stood out. But overall, I thought he was one of the brightest players in the second half. It’s a lack of confidence/consistent minutes. As we know, at his best, his passing and decision making is usually spot on and one of his best attributes. It’s tough to get going with inconsistent minutes, it’s the only downside of having a great squad.

First half was very cohesive. We pressed as a team and denied them outlets. This meant we won the ball further up the pitch and were much more dangerous as a result. 2nd half the intensity was still mostly there but the press was much less cohesive. They always had one decent out-ball which left us winning the ball back in a deeper position and being less dangerous.

All round, a much better attitude, and with a little more ruthlessness should have been 5 or 6. Their goal was a bit lucky and other than that they were reduced to pot shots. No drama for a change, now lets finish up before the international break with a win at WBA. COYS.

Needed to win. Won.

Good in the first half, but if I’m being honest I thought we were poor in the 2nd half. Very casual and sloppy actually.

Appreciate we’ve made quite a few changes this summer, but we’re still too reliant on Son and Kane imo.

LASK have won 1-0 at Antwerp. That’s 3 teams on 6 points. Win our next two games..home to Ludo and away to LASK and we should win the group. Not definite though.

Antwerp lost at home to LASK, so the 3 of us now have 6 points, we have the best GD in the mini 3-club table so are now top of Group J. Bit annoying that we may still need something from final home game vs Antwerp

Is it head to head or goal difference which counts for the final table? If its GD 2 wins and a draw will guarantee us top barring a GD swing.

I said to myself during first half I think it was actually too easy. They looked so so poor we were cutting them open at will and ot must have been clear to the players we're gonna walk this. Was one of the most one sided halfs I've ever seen.

Nothing came off for vini, though it wasn’t for the lack of trying. Stevie likewise looked like he had a point to prove, and I thought a lot actually came off for him. Unlucky not to score. It’s the case of the chicken and the egg. What comes first? Is it lack of confidence and form that leads to a player dropping down the pecking order, or does the lack of playing time perpetuate the lack of form and confidence. Probs a bit of both, but it’s tough playing 45 minutes a week against nothing teams in Bulgaria. I’m glad they looked motivated, there’s no doubting their ability, especially Stevie.
When you are not getting much game time you cannot be sharp. Bergwijn and Vicinius stand out in this respect.

Be honest, Spurs forward, Kane,Son.Moura,Lamela are always interchanging positions during games.
Vinicius needs to learn to accustomise himself to this. Work at the training ground helps but game time on the pitch is important. He’s hardly played so needs much more time to fit into a similar role to Kane. Kane rarely plays as a main target man up front,he’s all over the place.Thats not Vicinius yet.

Saints fans are honestly the saltiest set of fans ever when it comes to their players wanting to leave. Hojbjerg is rubbish on the ball and can’t pass? Fucking idiots. Unbelievable player.
They’ll be much saltier when Ward-Prowse leaves next summer to either: Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and maybe even us. Looks like he is starting to outgrow the club. Has been very good the past two seasons. Can definitely see him at Liverpool.

Looks to me like he’s trying too hard to impress

He went from hitting the ground running and full of confidence to pretty bad injury to lockdown to not fully fit at the restart to a short pre-season plus Bale showed up (I don't think he's competing with Bale TBH I think it's more Lucas spot he should be thinking about)

There's a few I think could do with one or two full 90's in almost a dead rubber match to drag them up a bit (if we were in a position to do so; which is why that Antwerp game was such a crap result)
Bale, Lo Celso, Doherty, Bergwijn, Vinicius, Dele, Winks, Tanganga, Cirkin, Rodon, Clarke, Gedson, Gazza (I know some aren't eligible for Europa or arguably in need of game time) but if we could get to a position of qualifying top with games to spare and give most of those above a full run out or two I think it would help.

Just my opinion.

Our passing generally was poor but we kept at it and deservedly won. Too many changes between matches so our play looked rather disjointed but inevitable with so many matches.
