Today was exactly the type of game where we needed to play Dier and probably Wanyama in front of the back three of Toby, Sanchez and Jan. But we couldn't, and we paid the price.

When City lose top-class players they can dip into their bottomless oil-well of players and replace like-for-like.

That's why it makes no sense to draw conclusions about how poor we are from a game like today, against a global corporation masquerading as a football club.
Looks for mega winner at bottom of post

I honestly think poch has upset the dressing room he’s left Rose back in and forced Davies out again.

What does that tell you if you are a player?

The manager has his favourites as for me....Davies deserves to be in this team over Rose

Davies has played well, very strange that he's been bombed straight out. Not like Rose has come back on all cylinders either.

For the reason of speed, I can take that. Davies should be accepting too I reckoned.

Not when Eriksen and Dele were so poor but Son was subbed out. Absolutely no no..

If we had Wanyama, Toby and Davinson back then we would have competed alot more

Trying to compete with potentially the best team in prem history away from home with a make shift back 4 and no defensive midfielder was always going to end in tears.

I said as much in the formation thread and earlier today in this thread. Fair play to Poch for being positive in his tactics but when you face a side as good as city they will punish any mistakes at all that you make. And that's what happened.
Good point but that just would have made us more solid. It would have done nothing for slapstick that was on display up front.

We needed to either play game plan we used against Madrid or we needed to press and not allow them time on the ball. We did neither and it made it so easy for them.

What pissed me off more than anything today though was watching Rose and dele lose the ball high up the pitch and make zero effort to get back, none what so ever, and it happened with both of them numerous times. I would honestly take good offers for both of them tbh. Rose is already in his head gone, and Dele is just believing his own hype far too much. I can forgive mistakes but a lack of effort to get back and defend is just simply not acceptable.
I know- a 532 with Davies as LCB would have at least made us more compact and a midfield 3 of Winks, Eriksen and Lamela (I've grown disillusioned with Alli over the season) playing deeper with one of Eriksen or Lamela shuttling in support of Son and Kane might have made us more dangerous on the break

Exactly...there’s been some weird decisions for me from poch recently.

He’s sabotaging himself.

Firstly it’s the Rose one over Davies

Then there’s the Alli one...he’s crying to be benched or dropped just to get his focus back but no every week he plays

Next....Son finally now he’s starts to play him although he should be playing every week.

Trippier today....he just leaves him out there when he’s getting destroyed.

Walker in his time at spurs won 1 trophy.... in his first season he will win Premier League and possibly Champions League....what does that tell the rest of our squad...

Get the fuck out of Spurs if you want to win something.

Well Played Levy.... chance for us to be a top team and you bottled it again, time to go when stadium built as we will never win anything big under his stewardship, assets are great but football is about winning trophies, not having shiny assets. I would take old WHL and a few trophies over the new stadium

Worst I've felt about a Poch side for a long long time. This mirrored performances of old.

Wrong set-up from the start - Aurier should have been trusted because he may have at least been quicker in the race against Sane. Dembele is simply on the decline now and when you're up against fleeter footed players such as De Bruyne, etc you can't be getting the run around in the most crucial part of the pitch.

Stupid decisions - Time and time again there were so many stupid decisions with and without the ball. Trippier caught way out of position at 0-1. Rose not slipping Eriksen in. Lloris kicking it straight back to them. I could go on. Were the players scared?? Did it affect their ability to react quicker?

Lack of responsibility - When you play the bigger and better teams you need players to take responsibility. Yet I saw a passive Eriksen yet again, Winks passed the ball to him in the first half and he had the expression of "Was that for me?" Take responsibility! Demand the ball! You don't see De Bruyne doing that. He wants the ball FFS!

In-game management - Once again this comes to the fore. Tripper caught bombing forward at 1, what's that all about? Have you still not learned your lesson?

Substitutions - All on Poch this one. You let Eriksen get away with being on the periphery. You let Alli get away with not doing much. You let Trippier get caught out of position continuously and you let Dembele run himself into the ground. I understand that our CM and defensive options are light at the moment but what is inexcusable is waiting until the 75th minute and us going two down - before doing anything other than improving the urgency - is not going to make you a successful coach. Why was Lamela not on sooner? He'd have given us more tenacity and could have posed a threat. Why did Sissoko not come on for Dembele instead? He would have added some athleticism in the midfield. Why was Son the first to be hooked? The lad is our only quick option on the counter and there was at least three who should have come off first.

I can honestly say that's the first time I've genuinely got really angry with Poch. The complete lack of urgency to change something was really grating at me. It was obvious, so bleeding obvious.

Every single one of these players should hang their heads in shame! Not one of them can put their hands up and say, well at least I gave 100%.

And poch’s insistence on playing woeful out of form players like alli, who clearly is taking a leaf out of walkers mantra and downed tools is beyond belief!

City didn’t even have to be out of 2nd gear, how can a team who finished 2nd last year. Be so so so poor! I know we’ve injuries in key positions, but the players who are chosen still have to fight and try, and the epitome of that was dier just missing that ball, didn’t even looked fussed! Fucking shut house!

Here is the problem that none of our fans want to acknowledge or admit, we have a bunch of players in this side that, unlike Kane, have no real reason to stay here besides Poch and the promise of this being a "project" and most of them have just seen one of their ex-teammates move to Man City, a team which, because of the money they have spent, are absolutely stomping this league.

They are looking at that and looking at how much more their ex-teammate is earning and thinking "Why would I stick around for a possible promise of winning something when I could move somewhere else, triple my pay and win trophies like they are going out of fashion?"

Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that no amount of loyalty or promises is going to keep a player around when they know they could be getting paid more and winning things at another team, our fans are completely deluded if they think for one second that a football stadium is going to keep them here.

It boils down to one simple fact, money wins out in the end in this league and we are simply not even close to the levels of clubs like City, quite frankly we have been punching WAY above our weight for two seasons now.

I personally think City and their dominance should not be celebrated, it has made for the most boring season in recent times, they have essentially already won the league and it's not even Christmas yet.

This is just a result of us not taking our chance as a team when we had it, now we are going backwards and to where we probably deserve to be, champions league aside we haven't looked like a top-four side this season at all, this is why I was pissed off when we threw away the chance of silverware earlier this season because frankly, THAT is our level, we need to start somewhere.

Now, Kane is our most loyal player but even with him, there will come a point where, no matter how much he loves spurs, he will be tempted to move, especially if we are going backward, this is the risk we have taken.

I feel the only way we can possibly keep this team together next season is if we increase our players wages substantially and we make some really big signings and I mean, City level big.

I don't think either of those things is going to transpire so I guess what I am saying is, our performance wasn't great tonight but the reality is, money won that game and I guess we just have to accept that until we spend money like City do we will always have little more than a very slim outside chance of ever coming close to winning this league.

Will be really interesting what team plays at Burnley on saturday. A lack of central midfield options really hinder us, would love to see Poch really mix it up and finally drop a name or two.

Said it on Twitter I think there’s 10 other players out there looking at Kyle at the end of that final whistle saying you know what he’s right...
Yeah, well, so what. It's fairly obvious this team's not winning trophies anyway.
Sell those who want to go in the summer for huge bucks and replace them with better players who we might win something with. Happy days.

We don't buy players by the standards of their skills on the pitch. We buy players depending on their price tag. FML.
Even on that metric signing Aurier looks daft as he was the same price / more expensive than the alternatives.

I think I would take 50 million plus bale for Dele.

I would also take 30 plus shaw for rose.

Dier as well another one seems to pout and take it out on himself very petulant
