Nothing for the CM3 to pass to as wing backs not getting high enough and front 2 isolated/covered by their CB’s and CDM’s.

This is the issue with 5-3-2, it’s why more often than not Conte favours 3-4-3.

Nothing wrong with the formation but there is with the tactics and to an extent the personnel. We’ve no pace outside of Son and despite Perisic and Doherty not doing anything wrong so to speak they’ve offered very little threat going forward.

Xg (for those asking)
ManU 1.04
Spurs 0.18
United's xg actually isn't so bad for us considering they are the home team. The issue is that we continue to put ourselves under pressure and look incapable of maintaining an attack

We look scared of Utd’s pace resulting in the midfield 3 sitting far too deep.

Bissouma should be covering the back 3 with Bentancur and Hojbjerg imposing themselves on the Utd central midfield.

Perisic looks pretty flat footed… we could do with Sessegnon’s pace on the left. Other than Son we’ve no pace in the team.
Good post this.

Thanks. 19 shots with that XG shows that they were pretty pointless shots.

I'm sure someone mentioned before that it's only for shots on target.

They had at least 2 shots just off target (one hit the outside of the post) that had Lloris beat.

We play total football. As in total shit football.

If you remove the result from the equation, this has to one of the worst performances I've seen in several years. Apart from the result, I can't say one positive thing.

i think you’ve forgotten about the Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal performances from this season.

Fernandes complains about anything and everything
For once I think he was justified in complaining that play wasn’t stopped when Dalot took a hit to the face. Perhaps the ref didn’t see it as clearly as Dier’s blow (which looked hideously painful!)

I tell you what, ive seen us play a lot worse at Old Trafford.

I didn't think we were that bad tbh
A few moments when Kane managed to spread the ball out wide. We maintain a threat, we nearly always do. But we are conceding a huge volume of territory and (albeit mainly long distance) shots. And when it's Fernandez that's still dangerous. If Ronaldo comes on and gets that much time to line himself up from 20 yards one of them is going to fly in the top corner.

Seems really basic compared to BT and Sky. New kid on the block so I know they will improve just feels like its missing something
Yeah, you're right there. I suppose there's a part of me that quite likes a simplistic approach.
I do prefer the pundits and commentators Amazon have got in though

Wonder what ManU's XG was. After all our defensive gameplan is based on limiting the opponent to worthless shots.

14 shots outside the box tells a lot.

I am all for being optimistic but most of our possession has been in our half and we have been hounded on every break with one or two quarter chances. They on the other hand have had us pegged back for most of the half and bar lloris making a few worldie saves and the post they should be 2/3 up. For a supposed title challenger To concede 20 shots in one half against a team like utd who are up and down atm is not acceptable for me. We are lucky it’s 0-0 and I can’t see us scoring unless we tighten up with our passing on the break. Hopefully we wake up second half. COYS!
Lucky? UTD have one clear play, pass out from RW to central midfield, suck out play to the wings to create space centrally & then kick and hope. It's limited and UTD tired themselves out pressing - I think we put together a proper half now & go on to win the game - it's what we do in the 2nd half of games

Bissouma looks like a shadow of the player who single-handedly dominated PEH & Bentancur in the FA cup.

Hope he gets up to speed soon.
The deep role doesn’t suit Bissouma. He doesn’t have a particularly progressive passing game. Hes looked nervous on the ball this season and whilst nerves are likely a contributing factor it’s just not his game. His best traits are his powerful burst of pace, ball winning ability and skill going past players. He’d be better off playing where one of PEH and Rodri are in this game where the game isn’t always ahead of him.

Main thing I've noticed is it's getting basics wrong. Utd are playing and pressing well but our passing has been shoddy and midfielders need to break the lines. Bissouma has turned and passed backwards several times when he could easily dribble forwards with his ability. I know that inviting pressure is part of our makeup but we're doing it even when we don't need to...

I feel we’ve been decent, but can’t keep gifting them space in some positions. Actually think we’ve been decent when ON the ball, just unfortunately that hasn’t been too often.
