Really hope the ITK is wrong or that Chelsea do in fact jump us for him.

I really don't think he's anything special.

Don't know why we would take a risk on him when Bony is available!
I've pondered this myself, and can only think that Poch would prefer a CF that can actually drop off and 'play football', Bony is not that good at that type of stuff, also Destro averages a goal every 95 minutes, which is not to be sniffed at.

Destro isn't that kind of player. Soldado is actually better on the ball than Destro and would drop off and link up play better. Destro isn't the best passer, nor does he hold the ball up too well.

However, what he is good at is being that typical number 9 who makes the kind of runs we saw Dier do on Saturday. He likes to play in between the defenders and capitalise on them switching off. He's a good finisher, definitely an in the box finisher rather than spanking them from range, however that does come with greedy moments of choosing the shot over the pass and doing the whole Defoe style "trying to shoot through players". I guess that's just part of being a typical striker though, that slight level of greediness and hunger for goals. Not the greatest in the air, but again has a tenacity about him when in the box.

He's a good player, and has done admirably coming back from injury, but I'm not sure if he'll be up to the physicality of our league, nor is he persistent or energetic enough to play a pressing game. If Poch wants a poacher though then he's not a bad choice, considering the lack of options around at the moment.

Good stuff. It's worth noting though that Destro is only 23 years old, which leaves plenty of time for Poch to implement some of his ideas into a player's game.

Seri A players rarely do well in EPL (Yes, I have heard of Zola and Vialli); and Poch should know from his experience with Osvaldo I hope.

Playing striker in Serie A is such a different ask to playing in the PL. You're asked to make runs maybe 1/4 to 1/3 less than in a PL match as the game is slowed down and the ball is played from side to side. The tempo is just so different it's no wonder many struggle, with the exception of pure class like Zola, Vialli and Ravanelli.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

I think this is a misconception because if you look at the players that came from Seria A, quite a few of them did well, di canio, carbone, vierra, Ravanelli Henry to name a few but Borrinni look at ease with the league last year and i would not really regard him as the greatest player. yes there have been a few flops, but the same could be said of any league, it just seems that there are less players who come from Seria, specifically Italians (who don't really seem to go anywhere).

For me its more about attributes, if a player has them, no matter what league they came from. As for destro i have no idea.

Bergkamp, Henry, Balotelli, Ravanelli, Weah, Jovetic, Coutinho, and I'm sure I've missed a few others.

JJ has already rubbished this link numerous times.

It just seems to me that Destros agent is working overtime to get him a move somewhere.

Henry and Vieria were flops in Seri A and spent only a season there, having spent majority of their career in France. Jovetic has not done well for ManC.
Balotelli was not a regular at ManC in case you did not notice.
You missed a lots, fex. Shavchenko, Materazzi.
Anyway, I don't that you and some thinks that background - both football and cultural - has nothing no influence on on-field performances. Fortunately, also in the EPL people are starting to understand what clubs in other big leages understood a long time ago....
