Which I called Ozil. I said Elia and because "A PLAYER" said he wasn't going anywhere....he became off limits to even speak of. Why open this thread, hell this whole fucking fourm, at all? If anybody mentions a player, its either a) he's a wanker...fuck him. or B) He's too good for us....fuck you! Why are you even here? By your own admitting, shouldn't you be in the Carlton Cole thread? FFS! :bang:

Im here to say this player is class!!!! and to let other deluded people on here know we have no chance of signing him.

Joe Cole, Scot Parker, Cavani, Carlton Cole are realistic.

Elia is a good shout....

But when we open up threads discussing Ozil, Villa, Robben etc etc... Its a a joke!!! Cause people actually believe we have a chance FFS!

It's not really a case of signing the best players but signing the right players. Real Madrid are an example that you can't just buy world class players and worry about where they fit in after. The same could be said of Man City. Neither team won anything last season, and although real Madrid did well in the League, they have a lot of World Class players who made that possible.

As for being realistic, well it's a long shot, but no more a long shot than Klinsmann was. Plus I think we have as much chance as Arsenal have of signing him. Out of the 2 teams, we're the ones moving forward atm.

I can see where you're coming from but i dont think we can attract players ahead of arsenal. Maybe if we do well in the Champions League and finish top 4 again next season we might be taken more seriously.

we should go for marginally less coveted players like zidan, benzema - we need strength ,workrate and a good attitude to rotation and everything else

I think you are right, with someone of his talent we would have to change the team to the following shape:

Gomes

Charlie - King - Dawson - BAE

Palacios - Modric

Lennon - Ozil - Bale

New Striker

Close. But more likely to be

Gomes
Charlie - king - Dawson - Bale
Palacios - Huddlestone
Lennon - Ozil - Modric
New Striker

Ozil will be off to chelsea or some such team. I think we'd be low on his list of offers

How low can we get? There are only a handful of teams really who he could go to that are a better option than us. I don't really think Chelsea are interested. Ancelotti is probably looking at Kaka or Aguero. I think Ozil would be low on their list of targets.

I can't see the point of Barca signing him and I don't know how he would fit in at Inter under Benitez when he already has Sneijder. Yes he is the name on peoples lips right now but I am not sure he is in the bracket of player that could only move to a really top club. Bigger names and better players have had good competitions in the past and not ended up at Barca, take Arshavin for example. He was probably the best player of the Euros and in the end he settled for going to Arsenal and that was in January.

I would say we were a pretty good prospect for a lot of players in the World Cup. The bigger teams are Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, probably still Liverpool, Inter, Milan, maybe Roma, Bayern, Barca and Real Madrid. I think we can compete in the market with teams like Sevilla and Valencia. Of those 'big' teams, Chelsea are looking at bigger fish like Aguero or Pato, Inter don't need him, Barca don't need him, Madrid probably are after bigger players, Milan have no money, Roma have little money, Liverpool aren't in CL and are in turmoil. It really only leaves Bayern, Man Utd and Arsenal as likely options for a top player to move to and if they don't snap up the player then we have a chance. Of course there is the Man City wild card but you have a feeling that they want a bigger name than Ozil.

Interesting.

I think you'll see why with IOMLS reasons stated.

Not saying we would stand a chance, but we would have as good a chance as any.

Ozil would be amazing for spurs and I think he is more suited for premiership football than Modric. He absolutely tore Australia to shreds in Germany's first world cup game.

This is where we need to exploit the clubs relationship with our ex-players. If Jurgen Klinsmann and the footballing genius that is Stefan Freund can help sell the club to him we may have more of a chance of signing him.

He doesn't have to leave though. It's not as if he's at some shitty little club now. Ozil wont leave Werder for anything but one of the European giants. You've already said you disagree with this, but I'm sure you're wrong. In Germany he has a huge reputation and has for a while. So it isn't a case of how low can we get, as I seriously doubt we are even on a list of potnetial destintations. He'd rather stay at Werder than join a club like Spurs, just to play in another league. In Germany leaving Werder for Spurs would be seen as a really strange career move him. A lot of players from lesser European leagues might see us as a good club to go to in one of the top European leagues, rather than signing for the likes of Madrid or Man Utd. But a German International playing for a CL club in the Bundesliga wouldn't see the need to go to a stepping stone club (which we'd be seen as). It's either join one of the traditional giants of European football or stay at Werder. If he was playing in the Croation, Dutch league or for one of the lesser German clubs and looking to to move on in his career than we'd be an option. But he's already an established big star in Germany, playing for one of the best clubs, so his next move will only be to one of Europe's super powers. If they aren't interested at this time, then he'd saty at Werder rather than start looking at lesser options.

Aguero plays in a different position to Ozil.

Agreed. Why go from Weder to the English Werder (us)? He'd go to a consistantly top club or a high wage playing club.

Christian Ziege would put a good word in too. Klinsy isn't really one for loyalty though after he went to Bayern instead of his home town of Stuttgart:bang:

You and Joey have made a very good point. I guess the only reason he might come to us rather than staying at Weder would be for money. Would we pay much more than he would get at Weder? Even an extra £10K a week could make a big difference.

If i remember right i read in german newspaper that he earns 1.2m per year at werder, so about 23-25k per week. The new contract they are offering him is 3m per year, 58k per week. All newspaper sources though but i thinks the figures are in this region.

12 goals and 29 assists in his last 2 seasons for Werder! Sounds like a player with a bit more than a few skills and no end product! Good performance the other night and another assist, its quite clear hes a player who has the ability to change a game and make things happen!

Amend this to 6 goals and 15 assists in the 2-bob bundesliga and it dont sound as impressive does it.
