Vorm's played 4 games lately, in fairly quick succession for a back up goalie. Hopefully he will have a bit more confidence going into tonight's game.

One of the best performances from a Spurs Goalkeeper in a long time. He's as good a 2nd keeper you're going to get unless you're Barcelona or Madrid.

When he gets a run of games you can see he is a good keeper, the problem is when he has to come in and play a game after a long time on the bench.

The injury to Lloris probably came at the best time (would have been better not injured, but..) for us. Vorm off the back of pre season and getting a run of games.

Lloris will have to win it back at this rate

To be fair that's usually the case with any player, keeper or outfield. All players need consistency to be able to perform at their natural level.

I do hope when Lloris is back he does have to win his place back - it'll be terribly unfair on Vorm were he to keep up performances like this and then get summarily dropped.

Having said that, the difficulty in not selecting the captain of France and one of the top 5 keepers in the world presents another challenge...

As good as Vorm played Lloris will come straight back in, he's our capatain and one of the best keepers in the world

Excellent from Vorm. It was a perfect game for him to play though, the opportunities came from situations that play to his strenght. He's quick and great with his feet and a very good shot stopper. His issue as a goal keeper is his lack of height.
Lots of crosses into the box, high long range shots, those are situations where he'll struggle more.

He saved our arses so many times, he is an excellent No 2.

What made me laugh during the game is that I read here a couple of weeks a go that Vorm only plays inside the box and he's not a sweeping keeper

I mean wtf, that was one of his best games for Spurs.

Simple explanation:

A lot of people don't know what the f*ck they're talking about.

It seems he didn't make the final squad.

I guess that's the dilemma he faces. 2nd keeper at a top club, good pay etc behind one of the best keepers in the world but overlooked by the international manager. Or number 1 keeper at a lesser club but in contention for international selection. He's obviously made a choice and he can't really complain.

Despite being 2nd choice Michel Vorm has been a fantastic influence on the Tottenham squad

In the world of football where many big managers follow a policy of rotating their goalkeepers by dividing between them all competitions that their teams play, Tottenham appears to be an exception.

The club has three goalkeepers on their payroll, which include first-choice Hugo Lloris, his substitute Michel Vorm, and reserve player Pau Lopez.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino uses his reserve players sparingly, unlike his north London rival Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who regularly divides Premier League games and cup competitions between first choice Petr Cech and substitute David Ospina.

Tottenham’s number 13 Michel Vorm joined Tottenham from Swansea in 2014 and has proven to be a reliable deputy to his captain, although he played just 4 games for Tottenham this season while Lloris started 24 times.

But despite not getting a lot of playing time, though, it appears that Vorm actually enjoys a wonderful relationship with Lloris.

Check out what journalist Lyall Thomas had to say about the two –

Vorm, I'm told, has a close relationship with Lloris. They push each other in training at a level described to me as "insane" at times #thfc

We've had some half decent alternatives down the years. Baardsen, Cerny, Cudicini, Friedel. I've not really seen Vorm have a great game for us really but when you're blessed with one of the best goalies in the league it's difficult to be very fond of our backup.

Baardsen...? Was he that great as remember he was a bit iffy, briefly dislodged Walker before Walker regained his spot.

The real story here is the insane amount of copy this dude was able to use to string out a Tweet from Lyall Thomas... (y)

Baardsen weren't too bad when he came in, he was a good shot stopper but some of the other stuff weren't so great, he was a decent backup. You're right I think Walker had a few stinkers and maybe got injured so he had a good run in the side and done pretty well, Walker came back very decent after being dropped for a while

I was intrigued so checked out Baardsen's wiki - he retired at 25 having lost interest in the game!:eek:
