are people blind? if the quote is accurate he's openly talking about the possibilty of moving this summer, not specifically the future after this summer.

You see I disagree, we are under no requirements to sell and due to the fact he's got a 5 year contract he is contractually obliged to fulfill it. If we told him flat out he's going nowhere this summer there's sweet fuck all he could do about it. In fact we could keep him next summer too before the power started to shift to his corner but even with 3 years left on his contract we could still get maximum profit.

true, but you have to weigh up whether it would be to the detriment of the Club, to keep a disgruntled player. Not that I think Modric would throw his toys out, but it might just distract him or take the edge out of his game.

If you take out bits of any interview you can portray it how you like.
Maybe he was asked seperately if he would love to play CL and he said yes, like he would, and it has since been reported in a way that he wants to leave.
Lets be serious though, if we don't show real intent in the transfer market, and i don't mean getting the likes of parker/friedal/upson/green/owen .....then Luka may look at it and think ' fuck this, spurs have no ambition and i am offski' so the ball is very much in our court, if we show luka we mean business, i am sure he is happy enough here to stay, providing we don't go for the muppets alot on this site actually want!

Yes.... if we accept a huge bid. Which we wont, Levy has openly said that we retain out best players in order to progress next season. What he's saying is that if we want him here next season then he's happy to stay. Though if we dont get CL football next season he would look for a move. Which I would say it fair enough in all honesty.

United play sly games. Fergie will talk up a player call him "fantastic, a real talent yadda yadda". They then make an offer far below the players value just to show their interest officially and hopefully plant the seed in the targets head.

Remind you of anyone else a bit closer to home?

well they're not going to offer chicken feed...when it comes down to it they'll offer over 30 million for him.

but he's just stating the obvious really, if manure or Barca offer 40+ mil and we accept it he'd most likely move

but the fact still remains with 5 years left on his contract THFC will be the ones deciding if he stays or goes not him

It would take 40+mil to currently sign Modric in this transfer market

Fergies always complaining about how expensive players are these days

Have manure ever spent 40+ mil on one player? I can't recall any

with the debt they're in could they afford him?

yes if a big bid comes in he'll move - thats my point. The loss would be significant in so many other ways though.

Ultimately we'll never break the rut or achieve what we are aiming to achieve if we keep selling our best players no matter the financial compensation.

only if we accept it and Levy has stated that won't be the case this summer for any of our top players

Roll on the end of august I can’t be bothered with this whole pantomime this summer after the berbatov nonsense, will he, won’t he? Fucking typical ploy by united and taggarts journalist friends.

I have come to the conclusion that we are in a (the club) powerful position. Regardless if Man United put a bid in and Modric wants to leave we should insist he serves his contract, even if he leave on a free transfer, it would send a presidencies we are not a selling club.

Rooney wanted to leave and United insisted he stayed we can do the same.

I'm really sick of the media harassing him about a move.

He's trying to concentrate on getting his country to the Euros. Leave him the fuck alone FFS.

I actually think these comments by Modric are good for us.

He obviously loves it at Spurs and would love nothing more then to get us back into the Champions League and competing for major honours. He has 5 years left on his contract so he doesn't have that much power to muscle a move away in the first place. But what I think he is hinting at is if we don't look to sign the right players, Top strikers (to begin with), then I will certainly look elsewhere, e.g. Man utd, where the players and system is already in place.

Maybe these comments will give Harry and Levy another reminder that we seriously need to invest in the squad and not leave it to chance like before in January otherwise the talent we do have in the squad will soon get fed up.

He is saying that he is in exactly the same position as any other player.

Club A bids X amount and offers player X amount. Club B accepts the offer player happy with package= deal.

Club B rejects offer= deal off.

Is player ambitious(CL)= yes.....end of.
