Interestingly these are the few stats I've pruned about the three options I see in the Premiership for our left side...

Shooting:

Barry - 36/52.8%
Downing - 42/47.6%
Pedersen - 73/37%

Passing:

Barry - 1414/72.8%
Downing - 1052/78.8%
Pedersen - 1123/63.3%

Dribbling:

Barry - 66/45.5%
Downing - 85/34.1%
Pedersen - 54/24.1%

Crossing:

Barry - 201/25.9%
Downing - 379/21.9%
Pedersen - 265/20.0%

Tackling:

Barry - 87/82.8%
Downing - not in top 5
Pedersen - 101/84.2%

Dunno what that tells us...makes Barry look pretty good.

Great research but dont want barry!!!!

well clearly this has somehow mutated into a Blackburn versus Spurs thread here.

My take on MGP: solid player. Great set pieces, works really hard for the team (as you would expect from a player managed by Mark Hughes). Not lightning quick but with his crossing you don't really need pace.

Blackburn versus Spurs...? Obviously I'm siding with Spurs but its close. B'burn are a solid unit, but I just sense that while they do unearth a few good players, some see B'burn as a "stepping stone" or a "learning curve" for bigger and better things. I just think within a few years the likes of Bentley may want to "do a Carrick" and want to play in the Champions League. My personal belief is Spurs have a greater chance of attaining this goal and finishing 5th for now will only widen the gap between B'burn and ourselves. This also has the added bonus of being able to fund transfers which will also have the same effect.

B'burn's squad is much more experienced than Spurs, but so many of them are getting on and replacing them will cost you lots. For instance, I don't think you'd be able to attract a younger version of Tugay or Friedel to Ewood Park. We on the other hand are building a squad of young and seriously talented bunch of youngsters and are way ahead of you in that respect.

What B'burn really excel at is defending as a team. I'm not meaning to be derisory but you guys are like a watered down version of Chelsea. You like to grind teams down and play tough football. Which is fair enough...then you pass to the flanks where you rightly state B'burn have some real class and pepper the box with dangerous balls.

Conclusion? I'd like MGP at WHL but it won't happen because B'burn won't sell their prized asset. Certainly not to a team within their sights. I'd say we're slightly ahead but I'd also put us in the same bracket of calibre for now. But while we're getting stronger I feel you guys are on the wane in key areas to your game which will then weaken your team very quickly.

When we were playing Blackburn I was in the front north east corner block 24 and kept shouting at GMP about playing for a team with supporters!!!

Weren't Blackburn on the verge of relegation a few seasons back? Credit to Hughes but c'mon lets be realistic. We are about the likes of Blackburn and Bolton but below the top 4.

Rovers, I think it's great you love Blackburn to the point of blindness. They're easily my second Premiership team and there's huge potential but you can't fill your stadium, ever. For that reason, you'll never ever be on a level with us.

It's that simple.

I'd love Pedersen, he's a real Spurs type of player. What's that? Inconsistent but great to watch a few times a season ;)

if you look through my posts you will see basically im saying spurs are the favourites to break into top 4(so slightly ahead of us) and to be fair you should be, you have the money..i wouldnt say your well ahead of us , considering we have hardly any money to spend and to be around the likes of everton and spurs is good..

blackburn need money to move that step forward, we have a decent squad, but given money we could have one hell of a squad(potential takeover)..

anyway as somebody has rightly said, this is a pedersen debate, not blackburn v tottenham..

My mate lives opposite Paul Kemsley and he said Morten Gamst Pedersen had his medical today at Spurs and we have signed him for 7 million plus Mido. To be honest I think it's a load of bullshit but you never know...

point im making is
spurs have had money, and finished 5th..
blackburn hardly any money finished 6th and 10th..

i rest my case..

.....but you once had money and like Chelski bought the title, but all the players realised that Rovers were shit (well Blackburn in general) and left. Playing Champions League football you should have attracted more class players but you didn't. Your class players moved on and you were relegated. That must tell you something about your club. That's the difference between Spurs and Rovers if, and I mean if, we crack the top 4 we'll attract better players, Rovers won't.

You say Blackburn have got to where they are on limited money but our net spending will be the same if not less than yours

Blackburn are a proper side and Sparky is a superb manager .

Rovers , why are you having problem pulling the crowds , is it ticket price or are people going to Pool and Manchester instead ? or ..?

What are they doing about it ? Do Blackburn reduce prices for youngsters ?

Yep.

my short version

The article states that it is a "real" possibility that MGP ends up in one of the top 5 clubs in England.

Rune Hauge (his agent) is looking to find a new club for the player. "The top 5 clubs are looking into his situation"
[load of bull btw]

MGP himself says that he will think about the issue when bids do come in.
