We need to keep a clean sheet first and foremost - so two RB's two LB's A defender(ish) in MF:wink:. We have enough skill and talent still with the likes of Modric, Parker and Bale and Ada:grin:

--------Friedel-----------
Corluka--Daws--Bassong--BAE
Walker--Kaboul--Parker--Bale
------------------Modric
----------Adebayor

i'd agree with this. as i've seen from someone else if lennon isn't fit then i'd quite like to see walker pushed forward charlie filling in at full back.

This would be my lineup too now that we have 2 DM there

That would be my team as well.

Looking at what we got now we should really start to play 4-2-3-1, at least as long as Ade starts.

We have Parker and Sandro as the holding team with Hudd and Livermore as second string.

We have Bale - Modric - VDV as the front 3 with Santos, Kranky and Lennon as a second string

Regards to the "standard" 4-4-2 formation we have less options on the midfield imo. We have Modric and Sandro that can play in a 2 man midfield and of course with Parker in now I am sure he and can as well but anyone else then them 3 becomes to light. That means we have alot of midfielders thats not good enough for a 2 man. Of course we have Livermore who will only improve and a hudd thats back from injury but atm I dont think they are good enough.

So conclusion is really to play 4-2-3-1 :)

Lots of odd decisions there Lanh. Dropping Bale but keeping Lennon? Moving Modric to the left? Pav anywhere near the starting lineup? Bassong?

Dropping Bale but keeping Lennon?
Lennon does a lot more defensively than Bale does.
Moving Modric to the left?
He's the best we have at playing on the left and then cutting in. Having the third central midfielder gives us greater solidity than two out and out wingers.
Pav anywhere near the starting lineup?
Sorry, an aberration, of course we should leave out or top scoring striker.
An integral part of the defence which got us into the Champions League in the first place.

I'm not sure that's true but even if it is, Bale has looked much better than Lennon in attack so far this season.

This one I might give you. But if Modders goes to the left I think Bale needs to go to left back to offer us more width overall.

Being our top scoring striker is like being the best looking Olsen twin. It doesn't mean much. And more importantly Pav has looked, even by his own standards, abominable in pre-season and in the couple of games he's played. Against Hearts was the worst striking performance I've seen since...well since his last really crap performance I suspect.

Yes but that was a while ago now. He's looked very shakey the last few times he's played and although Kaboul and Dawson haven't looked solid, I think that's more down to the midfield than their own failings (mostly).

Very debatable.

As far as I can tell, they've both been as bad as the other in attack so far.

Bale is worse at LB than he is at LM. Benni is much, much, much better than him. Bale @ LB, over Benni, no brainer. Not happening for me.

Yeah, but many of those performances when he has been slated as awful, he's scored vital goals which have either rescued us or secured us a win.

I've lost count of how many times I've seen comments like, "Did nothing apart from the goal(s)" written as comments about him, and personally I'd rather have someone who scores goals playing up front, than someone who doesn't.

I'm deliberately ignoring the specific reference to the Hearts match such was the abysmal quality of the support and service both he and Harry Kane received from the midfield and the wide players.

Yep, two years ago, and since then Dawson and Bassong have very rarely played together.

The fact remains however, that on game time, from the current squad, Charlie, Dawson, Bassong, Benni, with King where fit playing in place of Bassong, remain our most solid, reliable and dependable back four.

I am still completely mystified as to why Redknapp gave them 45mins pre-season playing time together last pre-season and then virtually no playing time together when they formed the central part of what, the third best defence in the league? Mind-boggling stuff.

--------------Friedel------------
Walker--Dawson--Kaboul---BAE--
--------------Hudd--------------
-------Parker-------Modric-------
-Lennon--------------------Bale-
-------------Adebayor-----------

(if Sandro is fit he would replace Thudd)

That's how I'd start (hopefully Adebayor is up to fitness!), if it's not working or we're chasing the game, JD on for Huddlestone or Modric (depending on how he's playing apres window).

Honestly think with the right partner JD could be well in the goals this season, is Ade it? Time will tell.

Cannot fucking wait to see Parker in Lillywhite, if he put in the kind of effort he did for that pile of shite, I think he'll be absolutely tremendous for us (Hi Ashcroft! :adios:). I think with his determination, he will add the kind of bite we need...like Michael Brown did when we had our papier masche midfield, only with Parker being a hundred times better and less of a dirty bastard.

NI -vs- Serbia tonight, still dissappointed with the window but looking forward to seeing us hit our stride again starting with a nice away win.

COYS!

Edit: Any word on Lennon's injury as yet? Can't find anything.

interesting that i've told you all King is fit that he's still not getting put in peoples starting 11's. i would have thought you'd all want to be right. so far only 1 of you has actually given themselves a chance of being correct.
