Fans advice for Doncaster

Fans travelling to Doncaster Rovers for our Carling Cup tie this Wednesday (August 26) should be aware that Doncaster have advised us that flags bearing the word ‘Yid' will be confiscated and may not be returned.
Flags and banners will be allowed, but only with appropriate wording.
As has been the case on our European travels in recent seasons, the Club will have a team of stewards at the Keepnote Stadium and they will assist fans where necessary.

Political correctness gone mad, I expect to hear lots of 'yid army' chants for those who are going please! Who, who, who let the yids out!

Makes little difference since we will be shouting it from the top of our lungs anyway (assuming my ticket turns up :-( )

I like how we've spelled their stadium name wrong  Keepnote

I bet they let S****horpe fans keep their flags.

Discrimination pure and simple.

I was one of the (few) Spurs supporters who made the trip to Tel Aviv for the Happoel game two seasons ago. We were suprised when we reached the ground that some home supporters had been sold tickets in the 'away' area.

We need not have worried as these were Israeli Spurs supporters. One group carried a huge Yid Army banner. It turned out that they had printed ten of these banners and sold nine to other Israelis. They were quite surprised when I suggested that some people found the term 'yid' offensive although they did concede that inhabitants of Jerusalem may be less tolerant. Yiddish speakers use the term amongst themselves.

Obviously, Doncaster is more sensitive than Israel.

Christ, why does this get dug up once in a while?

By branding ourselves Yid's, Yido's, Yid Army etc what the hell is it to do with Doncaster Rovers?? Are Sunderlands fans stopped from waving flags with "Black Cat" written on it, in fear of upsetting all the other coloured cats out there? Are Wycombes fans to be banned from calling themselves Chairboys, cos they might upset other types of furniture?

I know it's a silly argument, i know the conotations behind the word, but i don't see a big campaign stopping black guys n girls from calling each other nigger when they feel like it (oop, sorry, got told about this before - if you spell it niggA then that's fine, (as long as you're not white), though how anyone can tell how you're spelling a word you're saying is beyond me).

By highlighting an offensive word AS offensive then you are giving it credence. Yid is not offensive to us Spurs fans, as gay is not offensive towards gay folks yet some people will use it as an insult - just because a minority does it doesn't make it insulting by default!!

Is it fine for them to call themselves Vikings then? I mean, not one Norse player or fan amongst them i expect, yet here they are parading around calling themselves after a bunch of marauding rapists and pillagers... I'm gonna go digging and see if i can find a distant relative who was killed by them then complain to the club. Might as well, nothing better to do

Yid is offensive. It is a digusting word and very derogatory to Jewish people. However being one myself and a true Spur I love the fact we shout and call ourselves 'Yid Army'.

It shows that Spurs fans are proud to be associated with Jewish fans and that we are accepted within the Spurs family.

If Daniel Levy and all Jewish Spurs fans don't mind - why should Doncaster Rovers ?

There was an Israeli flag at the Boleyn on Sunday .

Can't see how that is going to make Moslem Spurs or West Ham fans feel more welcome or included .

Thats probably where Doncaster Rovers are coming from .

This reminds me I need to buy a flag for a pub over here. They currently have Man Utd, L'Pool, Newcastle & Arsenal and I need to put a Yid among the pigeons.

Can any of you recommend a good website for buying Tottenham flags?
