I'm going to go for 2 goals from our defenders today with Walker and one of the CB's finding the onion bag.

It has that kind of feel to it, a worldie from an unlikely source or as you say a CB, surely not from a corner though  ....... good lord..

Whilst on paper we should be handing out a can of ass whooping our results after Europa games this season tell a very different story.

Arsenal, West Ham, Newcastle and Liverpool defeats all came after Europa games with us conceding a total of 10 goals and scoring none.

Out of the 6 games we've lost this season, only the Man City home and away defeats haven't come after a Europa fixture.

Our 3 wins after Europa matches have all been 1-0's. At home to Swansea and Hull, and away to Cardiff. The goals we scored against Swansea and Hull were (debatable) penalties and at Cardiff we had to wait until the 92 minute for the winner after Cardiff had missed a couple of clear chances.

Swansea (H) 1-0 W
Arsenal (A) 1-0 L
Cardiff (A) 0-1 W
West Ham (H) 0-3 L
Hull City (H) 1-0 W
Newcastle (H) 0-1 L
Man Utd (H) 2-2 D
Liverpool (H) 0-5 L

I predict a tough game against a Norwich side who have enjoyed a degree of success against us over the last few seasons. Lets hope we can break the mold.

Now that we have more competition for places, players need to start well and perform otherwise I'd be tempted to haul one or two off at half time. Starting the match with a tired Bentaleb could be a mistake. I agree Erikssen may provide the creativity. Do people on here believe that Dembele should start ahead of Townsend on the right?

To be honest 3 of those games we lost after playing in Europe came at home, in which at the time and even now still a lot of the time, we are dire. As much as I don't think the Europa League helps, those defeats didn't come because of it in my opinion.

Also with the Cardiff away game going by what you say it sounds like we were lucky to get anything from the game but we had 63% possession in the match, 12 corners, 29 shots to Cardiff's 6, and 12 on target to Cardiff's 0. It wasn't a bad performance.

Yeah, I was at the Cardiff game and we weren't bad at all but I don't think you can ignore the fact that most of our defeats have come in the matches after Europa games.

I guess we just have to get better. Certainly if we have pretensions of CL. Though I do think playing on Sundays gives matches a very different feel.

We all know Liverpool are going to win today lets see how fired up we are - Just hope ADE is up front - as far as Soldier boy goes, I rather put CHADLI up front - CoYS ! Going to be very tough.

Looks like every game has gone against us this weekend.....we need the win no doubt.

Norwich will make it difficult but they've only scored two goals in their last seven - that's really dire.

Providing we don't gift them a goal which could really galvanise them, we should win.

Perhaps this Liverpool game can go our way with either a draw or a Swans win

Does anyone think Townsend will be playing today, guy needs game time to get match fit. However do you think we will risk him in this match?

would think he would start on the bench. Didnt look good mid week and not sure he looked well when he came off.
