bu my reckoning

Out of 6 as there our 6 teams. 1 highest 6 lowest.

Keeper - 2/6 (this meaning he is the 2nd best keeper)

RB - 5/6

LB - 3/6

CB partnership - 3/6

RM - 1/6

LM - 1/6

DM - 3/6

AM - 2/6

Strikers - 6/6

so imo we have the best wide playes out out of the top 5 but the worst strikers it looks like a very strong team IMO hopefully we can do well next yearn `

That's only the first team though. We've got a shed load of games to play this season and a bunch of those players are likely to get injured or suffer from a loss of form.

The reserve team of City would absolutely murder ours for example

We also don't have match winners in the way some of the others do

I think he meant City's Second Choice Team is much better than our Second Choice Team, altough i would disagree. Bassong, Gallas, Hutton, Kaboul, Gio, Kranjcar, Sandro, Palacios, Jenas, Crouch, Pav, Keane etc could imo alltogether make a good midtable club on their own.

As for the matchwinner i think with VDV, Bale, Lennon we have players who can easily decide games on their day.

Hence my question mark. I completely disagree with his statements. You just filled in the gaps where I was lost for words.

I dont understand how our forward line is the worst either?

Defoe was top four goal scorer in the league last year

But still compared to Torres, Rooney, Drogba, Tevez, Anelka hes the worst. It was a close call between him and RVP but i think RVP is still just a small bit better.

I just don't accept this?
For a start we had a better squad than City last season, IMHO. I believe we have strengthened in a far more focussed manner. And I really don't even believe that City have even strengthen 'that much' really. I think they have slightly upgraded, but largely just replaced some 1st team members who were either not treated particularly fairly, or we just haven't really been given time to settle in a new county and league, for some other very good plays who wall have to settle is a new country and league.
Secondly, think if we had any problems with match winners, which is debatable, we really don't, now that we have VDV. I like the idea, though - I have money on is finishing best of the rest outside of United and Chelsea, which pretty much looks line 3rd place, for which Corals are offering ( or, where, before before we signed VDV) a pretty generous looking 10-1.

But taken as a quartet, and remembering it is all about squad depth in the modern game, ours is a striking line-up that is the envy of virtually every team in the EPL - no need to focus on the 1 best striker, and look for negative comparison.

I would say our BEST lineup is actually.....

Gomes

Corluka.......Gallas.......King.......BAE

Huddlestone....Modric

VDV
Lennon..................Bale

Defoe
As for rating each position in comparison, formations and combinations of players need to be taken into account. A player could be individually worse like-for-like, but when teamed with another player could be a better combination than another teams.

Malouda is one of the most in form players in the league. Bale is obviously awesome but Malouda is full of end product

I disagree. Unless we are talking about injuries. Torres didnt score more goals than defoe. RVP didnt score more goals than Defoe. You are using what model to decide who is a better player than who?? Opininon?

If you look at it that way, IMO we still are only better than Liverpool, maybe Chelsea.

Chelsea: Anelka, Drogba, Sturridge (If one of Anelka or Drogba gets injured they can still play with one Striker and be totally fine)

Arsenal: RVP, Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela, Arshavin (Pretty good Cover if you ask me)

Liverpool: Torres, Jovanovic, Babel, Ngog, Kuyt (If Torres is injured theyre fucked IMO)

City: Tevez, Adebayor, Balotelli, Santa Cruz, Jo (Tevez, Adebayor and Balotelli are IMO all great forwards)

Manu: Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Hernandez (If Rooney or Berba are injured Owen can do a job there, if Hernandez can we will see soon)

Yes Opinion, its a Discussion Board after all. What model are you using? You wouldnt take Torres in a swap deal for Defoe?

A team can be more than the sum of it's parts. Year upon year I've seen our line-up compared favourably to Arsenal and yet they still finish ahead of us in the league. It takes a long time to build a winning culture/mentality around the club as a whole and we are playing catch up compared to the previous SKY4. We have a great squad though :)

We have the 4th best team right now. No need to compare or wonder really. It's in the record.

As for this rubbish I sometimes stumble across on various corners of the intawebz about us getting 4th only as a result of others slipping up - utter bollocks. Our points haul last season would have got us, in the last decade; 5th place 3 times, 4th place 4 times, 3rd place twice and even 2nd place once. Or, simply put, top 4 70% of the time.

Add to that the signings we made, we should look to give ourselves a similar points tally, even with the mid week distraction of European football this season. We do that, we give ourselves a very good chance of CL football again.

ArseScum - Chamakh is yet to prove himself, Vela ain't all that (IMHO), same for Bendtner, and I class Arshavin more as an offensive mid than an out-and-out striker.

United - Berbatov (aside form being a moody Bulgarian git) has been inconsistent for them, and doesn't really seem to have hit it off with Rooner that much. Owne's career may be over. And Hernandez is just a kid with potential - just 'cos United bought him, doesn't make him great.

Citeh - Tevez is a greta forward IMHO, and it was the moment that Red Nose quibbled over his price (which, incidentally, I thoght had already been agreed as part of the FA sanction to allow him to go there after the WetSpam debacle) thathe began to lose ground (probably due to Glazer's financial management). Balotelli, is young and unproven in the EPL - again, you arre going purely on reputation. Adebayor is unsettled, and, as he showed at the Goons, once that happens his form suffers. Santa Cruz will be lucky if he gets a loook in, and has injury problems. Jo has neever been wanted there. Next to Tevez, their best striker was Bellamy, and in one of his masterly management scenarios Mancini has agreed to pay for him to play for another club.

Honestly, first off, I said the envy of most 'EPL sides', and even you could only whittle the exceptions down to 3; and secondly, I dofeel that you are overestimating The Goons and United strike forces, and possibly Citehs as well, while underestiating ours.

On goals scored last season, No I wouldnt. Lets see what he does this year? After all Defoe has scored consistently in the Premier league and Torres had one good season. the maths rather than opinion means that Deofe on current form is above Torres
