I certainly won't argue that Rooney is the best, most complete player in the Prem. I think SC has, on the whole been quite fair here, of course a Spurs tinted bias is inevitable, but not as partial as I expected.

I'm not sure. I'd probably say he should be below Van Persie, but I can see the argument for Van Persie being lower because his injuries keep him out a lot. At the level David Silva is playing now he'd be up there too, but last season he wasn't even close to how he is playing now. Is that because of the protection he has playing in a better team? Not sure.

Rooney is probably the most complete player of all of those even if he isn't bang at the top of his form like Silva and Van Persie. I don't think any of them would get close to the top of an all time Premiership list though.
Great thread IOMLS, I hope it is repeated, perhaps in May.
Yaya is really impressing at the moment.

Great work IOMLS, now to the real mcoy - which team has the best players!

OK, according to SC the best 11's for each side give the following result:

1. Man City - 334
2. Chelsea - 354
3. Tottenham - 408
4. Man Utd - 413
5. Arsenal - 745
6. Liverpool - 784
7. Everton - 1252
8. Newcastle - 1522
9. Villa - 1575

Then the rest.

Some teams are let down by a single player, such as Man City have Lescott who whilst not being a bad player comes way down the list and is about one third of their total. De Gea for United being the same. Other teams like Chelsea seem to have a very solid side all round all be it with their highest player at number 10 (Ashley Cole).

Both Arsenal's and Liverpool's defences let them down massively.

It clearly shows that Newcastle, according to the good people of SC are massively overachieving or the players are massively under-rated (Newcastle's stingy defence doesn't have a single player in the top 100).

Also suggests we should be right up there this season battling with Chelsea and Man Utd.

It's not really a surprise that Everton are in the top 10. They have quite a few well regarded players even if not spectacular like Baines, Tim Cahill, Fellaini, Tim Howard, Saha etc.

Again Man Utd are low because whilst they have players like Rooney and Vidic who combined add up to 4, they also have De Gea who didn't make the top 100. The three teams above them didn't have any players outside the top 100.

If you split the players into positions and ranked them per position and then added the totals, Utd would come much higher because the GK rating wouldn't let them down so much.

Surprised United are lower than us. I guess their poor centre midfield, as well as the 'keeper, put them just under us.

Thinking of bringing this thread back for the new season and see how things have changed in one year. Spurs have lost all 3 of the players they had in the top 10 but I'd imagine a few of the other players we had will move up the list. I mean this time last year SC rated Kaboul one place below Chris Samba...

OK, so far we have only 4 people providing scores. Anyone else wanting the list needs to send me a PM with email address.
