@SpursOfficial: More Andre: "A point away is good but we felt ahead in the game. We congratulate the players on their effort."

Should also be giving them a bollocking for taking foot of the gas...

He may well do that in private, while he gives positive feedback in public.

if we are good enough we will get there no matter what. if that happens great if not i wont lose sleep over it.. for me and dont care what people like you think.. to be best you test yourselves against teams in champions league season in season out , thats the way it is. putting in a lazy half arsed performance against some mid table greek side is down to the attitude of players so in answer to your question why don't you question attitude of players than some random poster on a forum!!!!!!

What, like not turning up?

I have already questioned the attitude of the players, but I am also questioning the attitude of the fans, like yourself, when AVB is trying to build the club that fits within its traditions and philosophies, the winning mentality through out the club, the fans support, to be a real football clubs and be the best, but do it Spurs way, the way I was brought up to believe.

‘It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory.’ Bill, yes I know, but.....

I don't just want the CL in one season, I want the fucking lot, the PL, FA cup, CL, League Cup, Charity Shield, Euorpean Super Cup and the World Club Cup. I want the fucking lot every season, because I am spurs fan and no other club deserves it more than us, so they are all important to me.

But, you sound just like most new modern fans, you don't give a crap about the football, you can't be asked with competitions that are "beneath you", all you want is CL, that is it, the glory grabber mentality, screw the clubs traditions. You just aim for the CL, but your aim is too low.

A very disappointing performance. Never really had any urgency, any desire, straight from the off. Passing was slow, there was little to no pressure on the opposition, lots of switching off, a lot of ambling around. We should have blitzed them for the first twenty, gone two up, then cruised the rest of the game as the Greeks gave up.

A more professional outfit would have won the game early and earned the right to cruise the last half hour.

Pleased Daws got a goal but he didn't anticipate their goal and his lack of pace meant he was never going to catch up (and that striker was hardly a speed demon). Maybe a lack of match sharpness was to blame but it didn't look great.

Also thought Huddlestone was far too deep on occassion, dragged Dembele back with him, leaving Dempsey to do a lot of work on his own and Defoe to be isolated. Panathinaikos were not bombing men forward so we struggled to find space on the attack, which is fast becoming our achilles heel.

We didn't have a pressing game, players lacked positional sense, and some like Vertonghen looked very complacent and like they thought the game was beneath them

Worrying, and its results like this that cost us in the group stage last year, but its not the end of the world. However, you wonder how longer it is going to take the players to realise they cannot sit on a 1-0 lead.

I'm sure everyone wants us to win every competition. Same as I'm sure everyone wants us to win the Europa League. But saying The League cup is not a "real major trophy" is hardly showing it respect, so I don't think you can whinge about people showing the EL some disrespect.

I know what you mean, and where you are coming from, but the FA Cup is the bigger (major) domestic cup, just because it is the best cup in the World, and this is no disrespect to league Cup.

Very disappointing. We seemed to be lulled by how very poor they were and easy it was to be winning while frankly coasting. Hopefully, we'll have learned an impt lesson tonight.

Learning lessons when we don't actually lose the game is very important as it doesn't allow papering over of cracks. This way it is easier to tell the likes of Huddlestone and Dawson how far they have to catch up. We played without urgency and lacked fluency in the final third. For all that Bale chides Defoe for being greedy he needs to look at himself sometimes. Huddlestone's short passing game was not good. I think that it will be different come Sunday. I think it's too early to pronounce comment on Dawson, but I think he will leave in Jan. Caulker was at fault as he could have reached the ball and put it out: you have to cut out balls like that; they can't score without the round thing.

AVB is blaming the fatigue for the second half performance.

I am now worried about Sunday as he played the full first team in this gane

I was going to make a sarcastic remark about Suarez playing on the tectonic plate that is Anfield, but he just hit a superb free kick!

Still, a point away from home not the end of the world, I think Pan and Lazio will cancel each other out and if we can't beat Maribor twice we don't deserve to go through. We did just beat United away, I can take a draw away in the EL!!! I mean we have had 3 away games, won two drawn 1. We now have two HUGE home games on the trot in the league, win these and we will be looking very strong.

Europa League is so bloody random anyway!

I disagree with this, it is Europe, we have played Lazio already, Inter are in it, Athletico Madrid and some other big big names. If we played AM in the CL quarter final, it would be a massive game, play the same team in the EL and it is meh, despite the game having the same quality players, the same stadiums, the same stage in the competition. It is the wrong attitude, and winning the EL, would certainly give Spurs a higher profile name around Europe with players. Not too mention actually winning a real major trophy since 1991.

One season of CL and many are acting like spoiled little shits (no directing at you personally) and it is that attitude within players that end up producing performances like we saw tonight that we all bitch about, but we never point our fingers at ourselves and how we treat games and competitions.

Meh. I'd love to see us win it but I just can't get excited by it at the moment. I want to, but it strikes me as being such a convoluted, drawn out competition. It's a shame because, as you say, it's a problem of attitude. I respect AVB for trying to highlight how daft that attitude is, but I suspect that many of our players still have memories of last season that leave them thinking of it as a fancy reserves tournament.

Cant be bothered commenting on the rest, but I felt that Townsend should've had a start. He has looked lively in most of his appearances for us this season, it would've been good to show a bit of faith and have him out there from the beginning, whilst resting one of Bale/Lennon. I reckon that Townsend wouldn't have been short of any endeavour either, if rewarded with the start, he would've added some impetus and desire to our attack.

Better not mention Harry, or might get called the worst kind of Spurs fan again, but...

Come on SK, you can do it, I will even throw in a free massage for you (y)

This.

Dawson was out-paced but Caulker seemed to let it go past him. It looked like he could have got a foot to it to me.

we have i said i just aim for cl only??? another spurs fan on here jumping on his high horse when anyone questions his beloved spurs and the traditions they apparently have.... ill let u into secret any team that is any good will and should be judged on their own bread and butter. thats its league .. anything more than that for me is a bonus. in todays game however , cl is where it is, both money wise and player wise. no decent top proper player wants to play in anything but champions league.

i want spurs to buy best players and i want them to win fucking everything from best pies to best and cleanest toliet awards so less of the modern fan bullshit talk....u say no other club deserrves it more than us??? what kind of nonsense talk is this...??? why do we deserve it - we were proper side in 60's by all accounts but since then apart from early 80's success produced little especially from 90's on where we had a whole generation and teams of pure average ability at best. its getting better now but light years from finsihed article. You get what you deserve and playing with half arsed attitudes like tonight rather than seen thru a comfortable win is typical of a spurs side... where was this spurs tradtion and philophosy that you talk about in second half tonight for example ? where was it for the whole of the 90's??????

i like my team playing well and nice passing football but it takes alot more than just having a team of talented footballers to make a team and thats where spurs have fallen down for many a year. spurs players need to apply themselves for 90 minutes not 45 minutes. we got away with it against united , tonight we were punished . we all know the characteristics missing from spurs teams, no one is doubting their ability to play when given chance!!! we win nothing playing just pretty football their has to be an end product.
