At one point in his fledgling career, probably when he was Bobby Robson's translator with dreams and pretensions of being a football manager, no doubt the great Jose Mourinho was ridiculed and scoffed at for his lofty ambitions.

I've taken on board all the points raised by this topic but I have a gut feeling that Paolo Di Canio will turn out to be a very astute manager one day.

Jose Mourinho as far as i am aware is not a fascist sympathiser prone to nazi salutes.

Even if Di Canio became the best manager in the world he is not compatible with us for that very reason.

Gary Megson's available, done a wonderful job taking Wednesday to the top three of divsion something or other, previous premier league experience and comes very cheap, which fits the situation that a lot on this forum think we can only afford!!

Really everyone is going off the point here, yes he is a nutter, yes he probably is or was a little fascist turd, but i don't think thats the main reason he is not a contender, the main reason is he has been a manager for 5 minutes in the lowest tier of our league, why the fuck would a club like ours be so desperate to go for a novice like him...its March the 1st not April the 1st?

Its interesting, while he is very volatile I do like some of the things he is coming out with. His expectations are sky high, he isn't putting up with any nonsense, even a win isn't enough, he wants good performances and he wants his players to maintain their performances throughout the 90 minutes....there are a few things there that we should demand of our players.

However, the fact Swindon are winning comfortably with their manager spending half the time in the stands shows that it isnt the toughest job. If he gets them into the championship then he deserves some kudos.

if we are trying to become a top club, on a consistent basis, then the answer is 'No!'

Regardless of Di Canio's political views, he's too green as a manager. The likes of Lambert and Rodgers are better placed to be long term heirs to Redknapp, I wouldn't even be opposed to Chris Houghton.
