I'm not worried. It's all about the tone of voice he used when he said it. Can never tell when reading quotes.

Have you heard the tone of his voice when saying these comments?
No, but then I bet everyone else hasn't. Everyone is just assuming he said it in a way that makes him sound nervous. Life as a Spurs fan, everything is pessimistic isn't it? Why is it so hard to believe he could be excited about talking to his family regarding a move to London, working with a Portuguese head coach, set to play alongside the star of last season and in European competition (the other clubs aren't even in EL).

I imagine he said it in a bored 'go away Mr Reporter' way that answers a question without really saying anything. The same way most players answer most questions. It's then up to the headline writer to tell us what to think.

If this was any other team we would all except it as done. Life of a Spurs fan. I for one think its done. There is no smoke without fire. This kind of info comes out all the time. It's a done deal, too many people have gone out on a limb to say its done that ifit wasn't a lot of reputations would be shattered... Not just of inderviduals but newspapers and news sites as well.

Leandro deal was thought to be done in January by many people including ITKS, myself included. Not done until the fat lady sings

Agreed, but I also think a lot of news sites and papers, even commentators, are being much more definite about our having this deal done then the LD one. I know nothing is 100% until its on OS but taking that into consideration I think it's looking like its all tied up....

(I am completely trying to ignore your ITK credentials and your level headed reasoning here... Let a boy dream)

LOL, lets put it this way, my info in January was so certain that if it had not been so late on I would have put a very large wad on at the bookies. As someone one said (Greavsy I think) "football is a funny old game" and I say footballers and their agents are funny old people, in fact what I have learnt over the years is that the football world is now completley bonkers and nothing suprises me anymore.

All I would say regarding the quotes and Grey Fox ITK is the rightly or wrongly the first thing Levy or Baldini will do before bidding for a player these days is get on the phone to his agent and sound him out over he move. If the agent says he's not interested they'll move on. They've obviously got the encouragement on this front to put the bid in so, so I'm not really worried over personal terms.

This should be sent out to every nutter on here, like myself, who spends hours on end waiting for a link to some unknown South American striker who's named after the drunk man down the pub Jo, Barry, Fred etc who we spend the entire summer chasing only to end up on deadline day with Carlton Cole and with that news spend the entire first half of the season sitting in a dark hole rocking back and forth repeating the phrase "Janurary is coming". Dark times.

On that note, have you actually heard anything regarding Lamela or Bernard? Or is it as AVB says, vague interest but not going to do anything?

he's coming.

I cant remember the last time a deal had gone this far, to the point of the player talking about it in the press, and not come off. Id be very surprised if Paulinho isnt just waiting for the CC to end.

Not Lamela, was mention of Bernard a few weeks back, but to be honest most of what I get is general indications about stuff. I did have a list of possible targets a few weeks ago and have given them to the Mods, but I have been asked not to make public. The club are very jumpy about leaks especailly incoming, they are not too concerned about out goings as in some circumstances that can help drum extra interest if it gets in the media.

Real hard concrete ITK is almost impossible now and my contacts aren't/wern't in the Redknapp camp its not just that.

To be fair to Paulinho, I'd want to wait too. I don't think he's waiting for better offers to come along, as they'd be there on the table already. Corinthians have confirmed that we've lodged a bid already, and so has the player, so if anyone were trying to gazump us they'd have done it by now. Anyone who has been scouting this boy knows what he has to offer and has seen him represent Brazil over the last month in friendlies and the Confed Cup.

I think he's just trying to be professional and focus on his international career, getting the Confed Cup out of the way first before confirming anything. It's going to be a huge thing for him to do, to have to up and move to England, so he'll want to ok it with his family first. I reckon it's a good move for him as Sandro will help him settle here and get used to English life/language.

Totally agree.
What would of been achieved if he came out and said 'Yeah the offer is amazing I can't wait to sign for Tottenham.'

I'm not sure what people really expected him to say, it was obviously a loaded question like 'are you aware of the situation with Tottenham and the offer on the table?'.

Who knows, maybe he might be handling this differently if the competition he were involved in weren't in Brazil. I mean, let's face it, when you're a beloved footballer playing in your home country and you leave, there can be some blowback by asshat fans. If he were to announce openly that he's leaving Corinthians to join Tottenham, he may face unnecessary flak from supporters which in turn can really divert the attention of a group of players with one goal in mind at the moment.

Pretty much, more harm than good (unless you're a Tottenham fan) can come from announcing he will be leaving his country this summer for England.
