Completely agree. He was great last night and didn't do anything wrong, but Vertonghen was even better. At one point he just took the ball off Lukaka, it wasn't even a tackle he just took it and left him behind. It was beautiful.

Did you see Vertonghen drag Herrera around like a rag-doll? I thoroughly enjoyed that.

Hard to imagine there’s a better 3 in Europe than
Alderweireld Sanchez vertonghen

Definitely think playing those 3 in CL anything could happen, with Kane banging them in at other end.

I'm going to go ahead and say that in all my years watching football I've never seen a player settle so well at a new club. (That's allowing for age, experience, changing countries etc.)

Really pleasing to see last night. Really composed and assured.

Had a couple of drops in his standards recently but no faulting him, or anyone of the boys last night.

I'm starting go think he's actually going to go the whole season without scoring a single goal, useless!

I wish he wouldn't let the ball bounce when the opposition are right on top of him but he clearly knows better than me. The only criticism I've seen is that he isn't quite as good as Toby and Jan - I'll take that for a young guy in his first season. Really impressed.

Possibly his poorest game for us,actually looked drunk at times. Obviously he’s been great till now and just 21 so it’s excusable. But the first goal was really weird looked like he could have got a challenge in before Salah shot but he just didn’t bother. With how much Poch loves Dier and Toby coming back. I fear he may be bench warming for large parts of remainder of season.

Weren't at his best today but I'm sure he'll learn quick, it's matches like these where he'll grown from.

This season in general though he's been outstanding, think about how many different strikers and different type of games he's had to come up against, for a 21 year old to be thrown in in his first year in the Premiership he deserves the highest of praise.

He looked troubled by them today, but I guess it could have been worse, he could have been a £75m signing air kicking to give a last minute peno against his own team :p

Very difficult first half, didn't have much to do in the second in the time he was out there given they sat back. He is a fine talent and only five days ago put in a top notch display against another rival. Anfield is a stage our players down the years have struggled so I wouldn't hold it too much against him. He's 21 and has done really well in his first season - the positives far outweigh the negatives.

He has to improve his balance, become more like Dembele in that regard, he gets pushed easily. Not suprising for someone so young playing in this league and he will improve it eventually.

Its very very tough for a young CB to go to Anfield and play well in a big pressure match, he wasn't great but it's understandable, he'll learn from it. Still one of the best CB prospects in europe. Can't wait to have Toby back in there as well, our defense will be an absolute rock.

All part of the EPL learning curve for him.

He's been great overall but did really struggle today. It happens, but he'll learn from it.

Quality player.

Yep just a bad day at the office for him today.

But he’s 21. And bloody special. He’ll learn, grow and become a better player because of it. Nobody is the finished article at 21.

Mind you, I think it does solve a slight headache for Poch in how he was going to get Toby back in the team. Can now start Toby and give Sanchez a rest that he definitely deserves given it’s his first full PL season.

Wonder how Poch will solve the similar Wanyama/Dier problem though. Think Big Vic needs to be starting games again.

A chastening experience for the lad. To be expected, it’s incredibly rare to have a top drawer CB at 21 who is mistake free.

He’ll have more games like this, but it will all be worth it in the end.
