I definitely think Liverpool targeted him today, as they pressed him hard and he doesn't have it in him yet to find a quick pass or turn away from the trouble and he panics a bit, but he will get there. If you seen the Europa League last season United done the same thing put massive presssure on him. Not having a go, more an observation.

Yup, he had a shaky performance today, but then our whole back line did in the first half. Liverpool did really well at harrying and pressing our defenders, massively disrupted our usual game in the first half.

Toby in for him next week please. He's been fantastic for his first season but still has his shaky moments. Why he didn't just clear that ball into the stands in the first half was beyond me.

There isn't is a better CB at the same sge in the world, but I'd rather still Toby and Jan.

All part of the process. Worst game for us but was against one of most intense pressing teams in Europe. He's a superb talent who's been great. Might be a bit too young to play away at top side unless in a 3 but there's only Juve and Chelsea left which I'm sure Toby will now start. With Toby back if we stick with a 4 it gives us a nice situation where we can play Toby against the potentially more threatening sides but Sanchez in the rest. He's had a great first season and has shown how much potential he has.

Think the early mistakes got to him and he seemed more nervous than usual in possession from then on. Still be very impressed by him overall, has been immense in some games.

I thought he was the only player who looked nervous in the tunnel before the game. He definitely seemed it out on the pitch today.

He had a bad first half but he will only learn from it and get better.

His mistakes never cost us so he dodged a bullet. Much better to make mistakes at 21 than 31. I dread to think how many mistakes Danny Rose and Walker made at that age, and they were just full backs! He won't hit his peak for another 5 or 6 years, scary!

Yeah he had 2 swings at it and missed twice he’s nerves went after that, still think he has been a great signing.

Still think big part to play in season. Allows us to keep Toby/jan fresh for big games. And would still be my choice in a 3 over Dier.

Exactly, he ain't getting pressed like that very often.

All part of the learning curve for a CB. Hopefully he'll go away, analyze the game with the coaches and learn from his mistakes. Still an amazing player for his age.

I think his mid range passing along the ground is a bit iffy. he's OK with the short passes but anything more that's not long in the air or into the channels is a bit hit and miss.

Has some great attributes but needs to keep it simple in possession and take more care when attempting passes between the lines.

It was a good experience for him to play in such a high speed game, which can only be good for his development

Love the guy. But definitely looked a bit shaken yesterday. Also, he doesn't seem to time his headers that well. He gets beaten a lot and when he does win the header its quite often not a clean and controlled contact. Anyone else notice this? I may be talking shite.

Yep just a bad day at the office for him today.

But he’s 21. And bloody special. He’ll learn, grow and become a better player because of it. Nobody is the finished article at 21.

Mind you, I think it does solve a slight headache for Poch in how he was going to get Toby back in the team. Can now start Toby and give Sanchez a rest that he definitely deserves given it’s his first full PL season.

Wonder how Poch will solve the similar Wanyama/Dier problem though. Think Big Vic needs to be starting games again.
Part of the problem is the CB's play so far apart to cover for the wing backs, that a large part of their role is a FB one. This is fine for Alderweireld and Vertonghen who play/played there at an international level.
But Sanchez is a more orthodox CB, more able to physically take on the bigger strikers, but is not as comfortable on the ball as any of the other 4 CB options.
He has had some cracking games for us, and is more suited as the middle man of a 3 imo.
So while we play 4 at the back, Toby and Jan are the best options.

Despite Wanyama's goal of the season strike, he looked dreadfully short of pace in his previous outing. If he is not fully mobile - and that was his problem right at the start of the season - then he will not be first choice for me. Dier was pretty poor in the 1st half against Liverpool, but he got better, and I think he had not fully recovered from the ManU game, where he was particularly full of beans for some reason.

Er we need Sanchez’s pace if we’re thinking of playing a high line against Aubameyang.

Sanchez has done a great job adapting to PL. Once he gets some more experience and mature as a player hell be massive.
However, his passing is not so great at the moment. And im afraid its going to cost us at some point.
