I've been a big supporter of Walker's, actually. But i've just seen enough of him. He just doesnt offer much in the way of end product and is so tentative about overlapping and making the runs down the right, that it really hurts the attack. He is not all great shakes defensively whatsoever. Trippier has much better end product going forward and is better defensively. As is Dier. Walker should be the #2 RB right now though because Dier is now first choice DM.

Ok dude

Trippier has done nothing in a Spurs shirt yet, not to say he won't but I'll wait until he does.

It's a bit like you saying Yedlin should be picked coz he had Hazard in his pocket so was obviously totally awesome ignoring the fact he hasn't even started a league game for us. Trippier was good for Burnley but it's a different kettle of fish playing for us, it's a monumental step up.

Seems Advocaat does not know much about Yelin:

From espn:
Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat admitted he still doesn't know much about on-loan defender DeAndre Yedlin, but said his pace is "superb" and feels the United States national team player will help add depth to the Black Cats.

"I've seen the videos of him and we saw him against Holland, when he did really well when he came on. But you can only see in training what he can bring and if he is better than the others.

"He only got here on Friday, so we need to work with him more."

Does not seem like he is in the plans any time soon...

Yedlin has been named on the preliminary 35-man US squad for an upcoming game against Mexico on October 10. Almost hope he is left off the squad so as not to disrupt his training with Sunderland.

Did DeAndre Yedlin's Sunderland debut underline where he needs to develop this season?

De Andre Yedlin's first start in English football, and his Sunderland debut, was certainly an affair to remember, if not for all the right reasons.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee is highly thought of in several footballing circles, most notably back in the United States, having impressed as one of the youngest players at the World Cup in Brazil last year.

He was slowly introduced to football after moving to Spurs from hometown club Seattle Sounders, taking in just one substitute appearance after joining at the start of 2015, before being sent on loan to the Stadium of Light to earn more game time.

The rapid fullback, who can also play as a winger, was on the bench against Bournemouth, but was given a chance from the off against the Premier League's form side Manchester City on Tuesday night.
It was as difficult a fixture as it looked on paper, with the Black Cats 4-0 down within 36 minutes of kick off.

Coming up against Raheem Sterling was a difficult test for the US international, and the former Liverpool man assisted twice before scoring City's final goal. Too often, Yedlin failed to impress himself against his opponent, and didn't offer enough defensively, especially considering the visitor's goalscoring threat.

However, the 22-year-old did impress with the attacking side of his game, setting up several chances throughout what was a desperately disappointing first half for the home side. Yedlin even created the goal that ensured Sunderland won the second half 1-0, crossing for fellow loanee Ola Toivonen to nod in a consolation.

It is something that Spurs hope the youngster will develop during his time in the North-East, refining his defensive game and using his pace to match the quickest wingers in the Premier League, while not losing the attacking edge to his game that marks him out as a promising player. If he is incapable of improving in that department, the wing may truly be the best option for Yedlin.

One thing is for sure, all parties will be hoping there aren't any more results like the one last night if Yedlin is to improve before he returns to White Hart Lane next season.

What did you make of Yedlin's performance?

"Yedlin did really well for his first game," Advocaat told reporters after the game.
"He needs to get to know the players better, but I was pleased with the space he found himself in and his work rate. I'm not sure how he'll figure on Saturday as [regular right back] Billy Jones has been one of our best players."

Good. Hope they play Jones. Dont need Yedlin going up against De Bruyne, Sterling, Depay and Mata in his 1st 2 games in England:eek:

Why not? That's a great opportunity for him to learn and improve, which is why we sent him on loan. He's already dealt with Hazard comfortably in a World Cup knockout game so I think he'll be ok.

Fact is mate he is going to be up against top drawer attacking players most weeks in the Prem now so he needs to get used to it or his Premier league days will be very short lived. Looked OK going forward the other night but defensively was another story altogether. Yes he is new to it all and he deserves time to settle in, but as I have said before the MLS and International football are worlds apart from the Premier league. In all honesty I'm really not convinced he has the tools to succeed over here especially as a full back, and he may get more of a look in as a RW if anyone ever decides 4-4-2 is worth a go.

He wont make it in Europe, period. He's not good defensively and his technical skills, like a typical american, are poor.

that's some u-turn, yank. maybe he's not good enough defensively right now but he's still 22 and it's something that can be taught. as for the supposed lack of technical ability, whilst an issue, isn't so much of a problem as a right back, as long as he's competent in that area and offers the overlap with delivery like he showed in midweek then he can be an asset. i honestly can't remember the last time walker put in two crosses of that quality.

YankSpurs is the king of overreactions. Yedlin will be a serviceable premier league right back. He's played ONE GAME in the premier league and we have people writing him off already. It's crazy.

No, Billy Jones has been moved from RB to LB. So Yedlin is keeping van Aanholt out of the team insofar as if he weren't playing to a decent standard Jones would move back over to the right.
