He doesn't look like a kid who's been given a chance because of injuries, he looks like the pro that a lower club have built their team around. Impressive today. Hope he can keep the enthusiasm up, because he doesn't have much quality around him.

Besides that. When the ball passes him he's watching. Needs to track and muck in.

Forward play has been slick; would like to see him engage his gritty side more here.
Not arguing with that. Just happy with what he's doing right now. I've been negative before, so trying to avoid the worst consequences of karma.

Just from reading their forum they all seem to raving about some o'hare kid who could be the second coming and still couldn't live up to the praise they are giving him

Josh is levels above him, he's looking like a seasoned pro on that pitch

Brave on the ball with his decision making, passing and dribbling. All you can ask for him on his first start for them.

Looks comfortable in his natural position.

For a loan like this, if Josh is going to be used as a CM, the confidence of his teammates is going to be crucial. It's 2-1 now. If they win, all's good. If someone fucks up and they lose, then things get difficult. He's one of ours, no

that should have ended "not one of theirs".

He looks different level. Bruce will likely pick honest, solid Lansbury instead though.

Villa fans seem to rate him

Very good display from our young lad. Composed on the ball, strong and always looked for th correct pass, not much more you can do in cm.

I think he will eventually put himself into their first 11 week in week out as he is better than anything else they have in my opinion.

Decent debut but as others have said definitely needs to work on his tracking back
Just defensive work in general.

He clearly knows how to tackle, but he often rushes into challenges too quickly and was caught out a few times.

Was a wonderful performance though! Good on the lad.

From what Villa fans say, Lansbury has been far from solid. He also usually plays AM for them.

IMO, it will be Onomah or Hourihane next to Whelen in CM with Lansbury in AM at least until Grealish comes back in 3 months. If Onomah performs as well today in his other games, he will make that CM spot his own and when Grealish comes back, he will either play LW or Lansbury will lose out to him in AM.

To say Villa fans have not been impressed with Lansbury and Hourihane is an understatement.

He had a good game, but I can also see why Poch doesn't want him at CM in the Premier League. The defensive side of his game needs a lot of work if he wants to make it there, not so much in terms of technical skills but the judgement of when to tackle, when to track back and the like. Hopefully that's something that comes with a year's experience - and perhaps what we're hoping Bruce will coach into him - but if he's failed to make much progress on it in training with us I have to think AM is his best chance of a career with a top-6 club.
