good to see him going out to get game... we should get a rb in and let kwp do the same thing... the lads need some experience.

Bruce sez:
“He can play anywhere in midfield - whether it is number six, eight or ten. He can play off the front."

So, Steve Bruce is clearly suggesting Josh should play centrally, not wide as a 7 or 11.

TFFT.

I think it's pretty clear he's a CM, Moussa style with a bit more potential to be a goal threat. I think that's why he went on loan, were stacked in midfield, Poch tried him more forward but it never really worked out.

Samba's a twat.

Josh is moving about well, but his body language really makes him look like he doesn't really care. He's scapegoat fodder if Villa don't do well.

I agree. But I highlighted Bruce's comments that:
“He can play anywhere in midfield - whether it is number six, eight or ten. He can play off the front."

Precisely because Poch was quoted as saying:
"He can play as an 8, a 6, a 7 or 10 or 11, I think that is not the problem. He needs to prove himself that he can play. It's a great opportunity for him now at Aston Villa to prove himself and prove to everyone that he is a player that can learn and improve and will be useful for Tottenham."

Obviously Poch has watched Josh every day in training for a couple of seasons. But, fwiw, I've seen nothing to convince me that Josh can play as a 7 or an 11.

Agreed it may come with time though the kid needs games to find his place IMO.

His first touch is better than anyone else's in this game, he seems to be playing the team game, rather than showboating, and his teammates seem to trust him. I reckon this is a successful loan, so let's get him back. Now. Tomorrow, I mean...

Has played well offensively, but watching the game when defending. Needs to muck in properly.
True. But he's clearly taking a zonal role off the ball. That may be what he's been told to do. Who knows? Since I've taken any sort of interest in him (18 months) he has improved monotonically. A yearlong loan to Villa now looks obstructive to me.

VillaTalk:

He is quality, second best player in our squad. Shame he is on loan with no chance of signing him.

Onomah looks very tidied and composed.

Onomah looks very, very good so far.

Steer, Onomah, O'Hare and Adomah have all looked good.

Onomah is looking ok, the only player who really wants to dribble at them with the ball

Onomah running around and finding space, looking lively, he'll soon learn that's not how we do things,
:D

Hourihane and Onomah need to get out of second gear.

Besides that. When the ball passes him he's watching. Needs to track and muck in.

Forward play has been slick; would like to see him engage his gritty side more here.
