one thing is for sure though is that onomah needs more game time. you cant not play a game for a month and then get thrown into a crazy fast pace, high quality intense game and be expected to do anything, especially when you lack any real professional minutes.

either play him more here or send him somewhere he will

Personally I am happy to give hi time but I don`t want him coming on against Liverpool at 1-1 with 10 mins to go... I honestly think that substitution could have cost us.. Edwards and Oduwa are better attacking impact subs due to skill and pace..

Oduwa is garbage

josh played a shielding cm role for england's u19s this summer(widely considered to be the best age group england have had in recent years) and was one of if not their best player. you move him away from that position and you don't even see half the player. he still has his weaknesses at cm that he needs to work on like discipline/positioning/reading of the game but at least there you actually get to see what makes him highly rated, when he's played further forward/wide like how poch is using him all you're really going to get from him is a bit of energy and safe possession. ideally he'd go away for a couple of years on loan, toughen/smarten up a bit playing his natural cm position and come back a much more developed player but poch wants to keep the best youngsters here. there are pros and cons to both but i can't see how a few intermittent appearances out of position is really going to help him grow into the player he can become.

And that's being generous.

All flash no substance type of player.
Saying he has no substances just confirms to me what I think, people have seen limited bits of him at rangers but seen his youtube skills highlights

He genuinely does have good end product when playing well and already he has 3 or 4 assists this season in the U21 matches

we all have opinions true, I've seen josh play a few times and he will, imo develop into a very good player. i am sure posh has seen the true potential in this young boy during training. or he would not put so much faith in him and winks. i too was wondering why he was not put out to get experience, however it suggests that while he is training with the first team squad, he can compete and bring something to the table.enough for the manager to keep hold of him and use him infant of more experienced seasoned pro,s.

I've seen plenty of youth football.

You can get away with plenty at that level that you can't in the pro's.

The list of scorers at that level that never translate is miiiiiiiles long.

There really shouldn't be any need to send the best 3 or 4 in loan now. We will have League Cup and FA Cup and the occasional late substitution in heavy wins. We'll be using the senior fringe players to fill in in the league either side of CL games and should still be able to move a couple on before deadline day

We've played 3 games people. We have 4 competitions again this season. Josh will get game time, it's up to him to impress enough to warrant even further (more meaningful) appearances.

Was waiting for someone to find this thread - I thought he was excellent tonight. He is fast becoming one of my favourite prospects. Very silky technique and great awareness.

Just needs to spend some time with dier, wanyama and dembele in the gym to get the upper-body strength required for CM

Great finish for his goal. Love the fact that he ran over to Edwards and the other youth to celebrate. CCV even ran the length of the pitch to jump on him.

Link up play and awareness was very nice tonight. Good to see that kinda stuff come natural to him because it can't really be taught.

Did well not in his natural position. Grew into the game and great to see him score a nice goal with a neat finish

Can only give him more confidence which could propel him on to the next level

neat finish, loved his one touch stuff in and around the box, still plenty for him to learn as an attacking midfielder, but hugely encouraging performance

Most of his first team performances if not all of them have been so far out wide and out of position. As soon as Georges came on today and he moved to the middle he looked instantly more switched on and brighter and got a goal. Still haven't seen enough of him to know exactly how good could be but for Poch to make those comments last season about him being a special player, then you have to think he could develop into,a good player.

its an indictment of the youth coaching if they can't make a player out of Nathan - he has so much to offer. Terrific pace genuine skill and its a shame that so far that hasn't been translated into a player.

If you had told me two years ago that Anton Walkes would play first team football before Nathan, Connor Ogilvie or Walker Peters I would have laughed at you.
