Pritchard is the player I wish we kept around.
I think Pritchard has a good loan at a CHampionship club which represents a nice step up in competition for him and will aid his development more than being in our reserve and youth matches with the odd cup game he might get a place on the bench for at this time

I think we did the right thing loaning him to Brentford and will be interested in seeing how well he does there

I see Brentford have also taken a lad on loan from Sporting Lisbon.
I may watch a few Brentford games this year - them, QPR and Fulham are my most local teams and I know a fair few Brentford fans and season ticket holders so when SPurs aren't playing if I;m free I may go and keep an eye on Pritchard as I did Bostock when he was loaned there

Pritchard seems to be on the right track in my view. Excellent year in League One, gets a solid season loan in the Championship under his belt by the age of 22. He does well there, he has very strong prospects to either get a Prem loan or slot right into the Spurs first team under Chadli.

I do think he's the kind of talent we could use though. Very much a dribbler for tight spaces, with good ball placement on top of it. With a little more maturity, weight gain, and experience - I feel he could be very useful to us in the near future, easily within the next two years.

Hope poch actually goes and watches Pritchard himself to check on his progress and see if he's a player who would fit in his system, he's only at Brentford after all so he's not far away.

Very happy Mason's been kept around, and is listed in both the Prem and UEFA squads. I think the ITK from the first page that he is set to feature rather prominently in Poch's plans is rather reasonable. We've seen quite a bit of ITK this summer suggesting Poch is unsatisfied with our quick passing forward, and given his experimentation with a mobile passer in the holding positions during preseason as well as his transfer plans towards changing up the CMs, I also think that ITK is very plausible.

I think Mason will slot right into the void vacated by Holtby. Each provide cover at CM and CAM, and possess great passing ability. Despite all of Holtby's ability, he's not really a dribbler, so I don't think there's honestly much lost between the two despite how highly I rate Holtby.

Mason not only suits what Poch seems to want more out of his midfield, but is just the type of player Poch can hang his hat on improving at the club along with players such as Bentaleb and Townsend. Very much looking forward to seeing what becomes of this prospect.

Anyone know what his injury is? Something slight so hopefully we can see him return soon?

Don't worry. He's getting loads of game time at Brentford and earning rave reviews. If that continues in a tough league playing with a good footballing team we'll soon get the benefit.

Excellent news. Thanks for the update.

Excellent news. Thanks for the update.
Pleasure. I know one of the top people at Brentford and so know the on and off field position. The feedback has been that they are so impressed with his attitude, focus, tenacity, aggressive energy around the pitch in conjunction with his known skill level and box of tricks. As others have pointed out he is one of the potentially special youngsters we have. I'm just pleased he is in very good hands with a team that plays their football on the ground and through midfield.

Fantastic to see this. Followed, so please don't hesitate to keep us abreast of his developments there at Brentford.

Is back in training as he is on a photo on the Spurs page. Hopefully in the 18 man squad against Belgrad.

Hoping he starts honestly. If Poch isn't immediately comfortable with throwing Stambouli into the Prem just yet, I'd love a CM pairing of he and Mason for that match. Also wouldn't mind seeing him at CAM, but I do agree with Poch we massively struggle to get the ball forward from deep, and Mason is the type to counter such a problem.

I think Mason would have started against West Ham if he hadn't gotten injured. Interesting to mention the putting him at CAM, as you played here most of his time in the academy and 1 season scored 29 in 31 games from that position.

I would definitely like to see him get some game time in both the CM 2 and the AM 3 at some point in the cups or Europe (if not the league).

Absolutely agreed. I feel he is our ready-made, and considerably cheaper, Holtby replacement due to similar styles and position coverage.

Would have been very happy to see him start in the league as of yet. However, I feel if at that point Poch did want a more mobile passer in the central pairing, despite Mason's injury he'd have played Holtby at the time. Hamburg didn't express interest until late on, so I don't think we can pin the cause on impending transfer either. But lawd knows I wish you were/are right.

The one question mark I have about Mason is his injury record. From what I have seen over the years he has the talent to make the grade as a 1st team player but the big question is whether he's just been unlucky or is genuinely injury prone. I think Poch will either make or break him.

Mason: The injury was frustrating
by Dan Kilpatrick - September 14, 2014 6:31 pm

Midfielder could feature in Europa League on Thursday after latest comeback.

Ryan Mason has admitted the timing of his recent injury was frustrating.

The 23-year-old midfielder had a cracking pre-season and looked a genuine contender to start our opening league match at West Ham.

But Mason picked up an injury the day before our final warm-up game with Schalke at the Lane and only made his comeback in Saturday’s 3-2 U21 victory over Southampton.

He scored and played 60 minutes and now must be a contender to feature in the Europa League clash at Partizan Belgrade on Thursday.

“It was nice for me to get back out there after a little while off,” he told the Spurs’ official website.

“The injury was frustrating because I felt pretty close to getting some game time, but I think I’ve proved to myself and the manager tonight that I’m back to where I want to be fitness wise.

“We had some good bits of play during the game. It’s a young group of lads out there but the longer the season goes on they’ll learn and put what they pick up into action on the pitch.

“If they can stick together and keep developing there will be a lot of chances for them.”

Mason is a really classy a player and I hope he gets another chance to establish himself as a first team regular. Sadly, I’m worried his latest injury may have cost him a big chance.

If he’d played the opening matches and established himself, he may now be a squad regular but the injury means he must force his way past Etienne Capoue, Nabil Bentaleb, Paulinho, Mousa Dembele and now Benjamin Stambouli in the next few months.

Very much hope he plays in the upcoming Europa match. Partizan traditionally plays a very quick passing game as is prominent in the Balkans and Eastern Europe, and they're rather good at it. I think we could very much use Mason's passing ability, range, and accuracy to help pin them back and prevent them from doing so. Would absolutely love to see a CM of Mason and Stambouli for this one.
