Just a couple of things to say here and I can't be arsed to read the thread...but firstly I'm made up that he's got a new deal.

Secondly, I've been talking Spurs in my new job and bear in mind that I live oooop Norf, a few football fans have said how much they rate Ryan Mason, that's enough for me.

Not at all. But one of the above would be nice. The blinkers are all yours sir. He's homegrown he loves spurs and he runs around a lot. Therefore he's your favourite

I think Larry has a point. I'm not saying you are specifically anti-Mason as you've said you aren't and I have no reason to disbelief you. But I have said before that I believe some people/we all do do what he say - look for wht confirms our previous opinion and filter everything else out. It's also possible for certain things to stick in individual minds that don't register with others.

To take last night for instance: I had no idea about Mason's new deal during the match, but was aware that he had been out inured and that the United players had been all over the meeja threatening ultra-violence against out players (okay, I exaggerate a tad). What I noticed about Mason was how much he put himself about, especially seen as he was returning from injury. I didn't notice his distribution at all, neither good nor bad - it probably did register at the time if a pass went astray, but I don't believe any player ever has ever had a 100% match - much as some of our fans like to imagine in order to use this mythical 100% perfect match as a club to beat our players with. But I do know from observation that his distribution is usually pretty good. So I am prepared to accept an occasional miss-pass or poor match in this regard. So I wasn't really looking for distribution from him, but was looking to see how he coped with the physically side of the game. Likewise, aside from noticing Adebayor's brilliant take-down, where the defender did really well to get an of-putting challenge in (where most folk were just whinging about the miss), I also noticed that he got stuck in against four United players on the half-way line and came away with the ball. I also noticed that Eriksen was very poor with his distribution. I think Eriksen is a genuinely fantastic player and was going on that we should sign the lad since he was 17, so I really have no reason whatsoever to skew his performance. But I always make a point of watching his passing, as it is usually so good - and last night it was woeful.

Eriksen was poor last night... But he's 22 and single handedly has won us games on a regular occasion! He scores great goals and important goals and his assists are also invaluable that's why he's aloud a few shockers... I'm just saying mason doesn't and hasn't done any of the above for us. And I can't see it happening in the near future. Granted his role is different to eriksens but he must add something to his game? Did we miss him when he went off against Chelsea ? Have we really missed him since he has been injured ? Think about it. Dembele and stambouli controlled the palace game until benji have away a silly pen, they controlled the Sunderland game and we won the burnley game with capoue and benji in there. Just not sure he brings an awful lots if I'm honest. But of course I don't want him to fail. I love how Harry Kane has proved me wrong.

Last line says it all to be fair. You can't see what's under your nose, if they're not setting the world alight instantly you cant wait to come on here and scream for them to be dropped. Such a shame

whoscored.

Just goes to show you the benefit stats can have. They don't bring prejudice or emotion in to the equation. 85% isn't brilliant against a bus parker but it's not a disaster either. He effectively gave the ball away 9 times. I think the problem was they were quite noticeable i.e. when he was attempting something incisive and failed, sometimes badly, or made poor passes, but also what isn't recorded in those stats is a few of times when he he passed to people but hit it too hard at them so it was hard to control or passed to people already with a man up their arse.

We've got to give him time, and I really don't think Pochettino's system helps any CM2 we play. he is failing to get players ahead and to the side working properly and cohesively with the CM pairing, the system he is trying to work requires two uber CM's IMO that have high calibre energy, dynamism, vision, tenacity and technique. There are few CM's like that in the world.

IMO, Mason, Bentaleb, Onomah & Winks all have potential to be quality players with the highlighted qualities. The problem is we don't have a more senior player to shoulder the burden whilst they grow, so we have to put up with 2 players with their current deficiencies in the team whilst they grow. This is where someone like Milner could make a massive difference IMO.

I don't really think Onomah has the energy and dynamism from what I've seen. Very talented, but I see him more as an ACM/"10" type from what I've seen of him. Haven't seen enough of Winks.

Mason needs to start looking the real deal by the end of this season/beginning of next because he's not 18/19/20 any more. But he has some of the raw materials. Bentaleb is the real deal IMO.

Ok let's chat at the end of the season. Remember I watched him at Swindon and he was at Donny with 3 of my mates so I know a fair bit about the lad. Again nothing personal but we need better if we want to kick on IMO

Fine, I'm going to spend the next 5 months supporting him, suggest you do the same

I disagree (though think he need to work on his tackling), but I think he will start his senior career at AM and than move back once comfortable in the PL.

I'm still not sure about this kid. I want him to be good and he certainly has talent but for a player in such an important position he really needs to start bossing games.

I will reserve judgement as I realise it's his first season in the premiership, so is still inexperienced at this level.
