was always on the cards......tough gig that job.......I remember a few here looking at him when BMJ got the bullet, I for one never got Poyet as a player or a manager. Anyone in the frame, one would assume the usual suspects. Harry, Holloway, Hoddle......Carlos kickaball etc etc, oh yeah and Warnock

Lambert is linked too.

Just incase he really had his heart set on relegating a club this season

He bought a load of old pony and they played a load of old pony.
Did well at Brighton but as @max cady says don't really see him as a manager.

Wonder how many managers Jermain Defoe has had in his career so far....

Vastly over-rated, and for some reason held in pretty high esteem by quite a number on here considering he wasn't that great a player for us and was also part of the Ramos debacle. Seems a bit of a **** the way he conducts himself and from the couple of people I know who are pretty close to the Sunderland camp, the media has it right I gather - its not a very happy group.

Sam Allardyce seems to be a favourite too, i'm sure WH fans would drive him there themselves.......

How's Harrys leg now? He'd probably get into the first eleven if it's healed.

Too far norf for Arry

They have tried experience and young foreign coach so think they will go for a ex-player next so at least the fans give him time to settle.

Kevin Phillips maybe, I know he has no experience at a lower level but that doesn't seem to matter these days.

PS the Adam Johnson incident may have quite a lot of do with Sunderland's current poor form and attitude.

I doubt it unless their players are worried they may get busted having sex with someone who is underage as well.

Sorry couldn't help it

Adam Johnson applied for the Sunderland job but he quickly pulled out of the running when he learnt it wasn't for the Under 16s

Did well on previous job, for some reason Sunderland seems to quite a gig for most of managers, so even if successor saves 'em, can't see him lasting for long.

Not sure who they'll go for now...not a huge amount of candidates about unless you want flops or dinosaurs.
Liked Poyet as a player, but always thought he seemed like a tool.

Dick Advocaat seems to be favourite for the job at the moment. Seems a bit of a risk to appoint someone who hasn't got Premier League experience, but he's very experienced so he can probably get his ideas over to the players.

As a player he was a fucking lazy ****. Spent al his time avoiding doing anything and pointing at others. Seemed to spend quite a lot of time pointing the finger at everyone else as a manger too.
