k, lets take a guess (considering he won't be commenting on our injured players i'm guessing, and won't have had enough time to assess Ledley until he's back up to speed) -

Dawson
Lee
Bale
Malbranque
Keane
Berbatov

Others on the verge, including injured parties, i would guess at King, Teemu, Lennon, Defoe & Bent, the rest i could see us looking to move on if the right offers came in. Lennon i wouldn't say is nailed on yet as, even though he was an incredible prospect at 18, he hasn't really moved on from there. Unless he can find that key ingredient to step up to the next level and make an impression on games, maybe working on his crossing, or working on his technique, then he will be left with only pace.

Dunno how you are all guessing at king.. when he cant train, so Ramos cannot judge him!

Has to be Berbs, Keane, Lennon, Bale, Boetang and Chimbs - those are the names in which have been quoted.

Erm, 6 players are UNTOUCHABLE. Wow, that is quite good. So he must really rate those six players. I was under the impression taht all players could be replaced if better ones became available. Apparently we have six of the best players in their positions in the world. Sweet!

Was going to write the same, you've save me the hassle!:)

None of the ITKs had his thumb sufficiently close to the pulse of the club to have the foggiest idea there was serious board-level dissatisafaction with Jol. Given this, my tenuous faith in the species has all but evaporated.

I love the fact that tons of you have put KPB in your 6 "untouchables" when he's played an hour for us

The same people have also left Steed out of their lists, despite him being one of the only players to show any class or hunger AT ALL.

Methinks that the fact Sevilla took a look at him before he came to us has translated to many on here as "Ramos rates him". Not necessarily - he's not even 20 yet, he's never played in the Premiership - i think Ramos is more sensible than that.

KPB is "one for the future" at best. Whether that future is in a few months or in a couple of years, that'll be for the club to work out.

I'm amazed to see Jenas and Chimbomba in many of your top 6 untouchables.

Both IMO have been absolutely useless this year so far. The amount of times chimbo has dallied on the ball instead of just hoofing it out and it's obvious that he gives the defence no confidence what so ever. Again, Jenas hasn't been up to scratch this year. I didn't even know he was playing saturday until Bent scored and he celebrated with him, he's been anonymous in most games he's played this year. Away at newcastle he was worse than awful.

I'm surprised he can actually pick 6. From what we have, based on this years performances i'd go Keane, Lennon and struggle for 4 more.

So we're gonna sell all but 6 of our squad in January?

The Sun couldn't have even made that crock up!

KPB is "one for the future" at best. Whether that future is in a few months or in a couple of years, that'll be for the club to work out.

All valid points with two caveats:

i) presumably KPB can play in Ramos' high-tempo system, which is why Sevilla were after him - so he may not be one of the alleged six "untouchables", but I do think he has a serious future with Ramos;

ii) I agree Steed has been showing a lot of hunger and desire recently, but I really don't think he's a good fit for Ramos' preferred system. He's not really fast enough to play wide right, taking on players on the outside. As a left-sided player, he's always going to cut inside, which Ramos doesn't like. In the middle, Steed is probably going to try to run with the ball, whereas Ramos likes his CMs to press, break up the play, and pass quickly to start a counterattack.

So, has Steed been playing well recently? Yes. Does he have a natural position in Ramos' preferred system? No.

It will be fascinating over the next few months to see how Ramos tweaks his tactics to accomodate the players he's inherited. It will also be very interesting to see which players are capable o adapting their game to Ramos' system. I hope Malbranque adapts, but I think it will be more difficult for him than for some of the others.

Why Lennon? He's not produced much and hasn't progressed at all in the last year - how can we all be sure he's not just a speed merchant who, given an inch of space can make the most of it, but when under pressure is beaten every time and goes missing for large parts of the game?

I know it's tough being the size he is, he'll never muscle anyone out of a challenge like Hudd, but he either needs to work on his crossing or his technique or both as so far he's shown me nothing to make me think he'll reach the heights he was predicted to reach two seasons ago

And yet you put Lennon in? if you are basing it on this season's performances how can you do that?

I'm not knocking Lennon but if you are basing it on this years showing you can't include him.

good response, but i still think that his passion and drive are enough to keep him in the side, especially when we have so little passion amongst our midfield.

He might not fit exactly, but from what i've seen Ramos will have the entire team on new assignments, getting used to an entirely new system, so there's nothing to say he won't become our super-sub attacking midfielder for when we need some drive, at least until one of our youngsters steps up.

I don't know who Ramos will pick, but at the moment i'd go for players who look like they want it, not players with reps who expect it.
