the only thing to blame him for on their goal is he was 2ft too short

FFS give Newport some credit for a well worked goal, and a great cross for a striker to be able to attack, and harder for a defender to climb
No it wasn’t he got tha timing completely wrong. He actually jumped high enough but then done the flick action too early and missed the Ball.

Awful by him

The most concerning thing for me is that we played, Jan, Dembele, Sissokko, wanyama, Llorente, Kane and Dier, and we hardly won a contested header and were bullied all over the park.

According to Poch we "lacked motivation"

I'm furious that he isn't staying behind after training to work on improving his height!

(I actually do think he was at fault for the goal though, because he jumped too early and also wasn't tight on his man.)
Messi took steroids, because he was more dedicated than Trippier...

If Rose is back for replay I hope KWP gets a chance at RB. After Trippiers performance today KWP deserves to get a shot in a game in what will likely be his position going forward.

I'd like to think it will be his position going backwards as well...:sneaky:

Yeah saw that and you’d initially be worried, but I actually think this is down to translation. I think what he probably meant to say was “intensity”. He kept saying how we needed to match them.

A game like this though shows how pampered premier league players are. Moaning about the floodlights, pitch etc....just get on with it!

I hope they rough up the NWHL pitch
so that we can get some practice
playing lower league teams in the Cup.

Sorry but a lot of premiership teams have had to play at lower leagues bad pitches, it’s not an excuse for me. I think Poch was spot on, we lacked motivation. They one more balls in the air and second balls than us. But this happens a lot in these FA cup games. I think we also got the tactics wrong, we tried to play out from the back and pass the ball on a bad pitch. They played the ball long and wide and fought harder.

Anyone, anyone who thought Sissoko was good tonight is seriously having a laugh. But he was not alone. We have serious problems in this team that need addressing urgently

Foyth deserves a lot more game time.
MP needs to get back to doing what he does best, and bring the young players through.

Can somebody tell me why most of our young English talent bar Kane has taken a giant step backwards this year? Alli, Dier and Trippier have all been mostly poor the majority of the season. Is it that they are too busy reading their press clippings to remember how they got here to begin with? Is it pressure to be included in the England sqaud in a world cup year? I have no idea but the team needs to figure it out if we want to achieve our goals this year.

Further evidence against even less quality opposition of our need to offload Sissoko and Llorente as soon as we can and replace with players who we can actually rely on to perform when first teamers don't play. I don't care if others were worse today, those are two of our highest paid subs and what they show over and over simply isn't close to being good enough for a top 4 squad.
That’s on Poch, he might be great at coaching players but I have reservations about his ability to pick players to make a squad. Of course not all signings work out but Sissoko, Llorente and Janssen before him were all just completely the wrong type of player for our squad.

Not going to repeat all the stuff already said here, but the real worry for me is we’ve gone backwards away from home domestically this season.

Apart from the CL games, where we seemed to raise our game and put real shifts in, we’ve folded like a deck of cards any time we’ve come up against a challenge on the road.

I dunno whether it’s the lack of solidity stemming from a dearth of fit, and in form, midfielders to make a partnership, or whether the team is starting to get too big for their boots, when it comes to outworking the opposition.

Brave New World - My fucking Arse

The biggest advantage we have over Newport is our footballing ability. So what does Pochettino do ? Remove all footballing advantage from his selections and tactics. Dembele, Wanyama and fucking Sissoko behind two planks up front. There was no-one to knit the defence to midfield to attack. Wanyama's a busy ****, he's there to balance off the flair, not to provide it, Dembele's ready for the knackers yard, and Sissoko just makes football look painful.

The pitch, opposition and occasion demanded players with technical superiority. Poch, not for the first time (not for the first time this week) got his tactics horribly wrong, his selections and tactical approach dragged us down to their level, surrendered our biggest advantage over a team like this, and gave them a chance in a battle of units.

What the fuck was the point of playing Llorente and Kane? Just play one of them and play an AM/creative type who could help us press the advantage we have - football.

Taking KWP off was cowardly and tactically bogus too. Shit performances everywhere but lets take off the rooky. Dier, Sissoko or Llorente should have gone off to be replaced by Alli. If Dier stays on and we needed to change to a back four, just push Dier into CM, push Dembele forward with Alli, meaning we'd have footballing options ahead of the CM's, Dembele could dribble in forward areas and dribble at their defenders, not their fucking midfielders, where he got picked off a couple of times (that just wasn't the pitch or game for dribbling in the centre circle). Hell, I'd rather see KWP in Sissoko's role, at least he can control the fucking ball, he can also run with too.

Individually there's not much point. Nobody comes out of that well. Nobody. Poch worst of all. Cowardly and unimaginative selections and decisions. He got lucky today because Newport shelled completely second half instead of keeping up their pressure, if they had, we were there for the taking.

Weren’t all our creative and technical players injured though? By that I obvs mean Eriksen and Lamela.
