If this is the best we can do without Eriksen I am very scared about the rest of the season. Conditions and illness may not have helped but we were poor all over rhe pitch.
Vorm was fine, dealt with everything without fuss.
Aurier was dreadful, they targeting him first half and it worked while going forward he offered the square route of fuck all.
Sanchez needs a time out. He’s a very talented young centre back who has been a great signing, but lately he’s been a mistake waiting to happen. He improved as the game wore on but he was very sloppy for the opening half hour. Unlucky on the own goal.
Vertonghen was fine, composed amidst chaos.
Davies was our only consistent threat going forward and dealt with everything defensively too.
Dier was cumbersome on and off the ball.
Dembele was poor, not just the fouls (half of which were dives) but the poor decisions, running into dead ends and telegraphed passing.
Sissoko was far from our worst player but his inability to find a pass screwed up many potential attacks.
Dele was awful, couldn't trap a bag of cement, weak and unimaginative.
Son was invisible, just didn’t want to know.
Kane, goal aside, struggled. Lots of huff and puff but everything seemed forced today.
Lamela was weak, slow, indecisive and fouled a lot.
Trippier did nothing to improve our dreadful right hand side.
Wanyama came on when we had a World Cup winning striker on the bench, well done Mauricio.
Best to worst:
Vertonghen
Davies
Vorm
Kane
Sissoko
Dier
Sanchez
Dembele
Son
Aurier
