Really? 12 different goal scorers in the league so far this season. Kane did not score for the first 8? I agree an injury to Kane would be troublesome but the team are weighing in with goals. Kane has 11
The rest of the team have 22. Feels like a good balance to me.
He's
More than just a scorer though. And where were we when he didn't score in those first 8! It's gonna be hard enough to get there with him

Lloris - 6 a bit nervy at points today

Rose - 6 not at his best
Dier 6 got turned for the goal, but made a great block late
Verts 7 very relaxed, battled well
Toby - 6.5 decent
Trippier - 7.5 - great crosses

Dembele - 6 - hope he is not injured
Carroll - 5.5 - lacked fluency

Alli - 6.5 - run a lot, got stuck in as usual
Lamela - 8 - deserved goal, again our biggest threat
Kane - 8 - worked hard, passed the ball well, and was always an outlet

Eriksen - 7 - thought his passing was crisp and created a few chances, found it harder when they went down to 10
Son - 7 - goood goal

Dont understand the negative ratings some people are giving, this was a victory against the in form team in the league away from home. I mean if we came away with this result against say Liverpool and even chelsea, we would be chuffed and praising the performance to no end. Well watford have been outplaying both this season and frankly deserve more respect.

I am chuffed with this result, this is a team only 3 points behind us who have improved as the season as gone on, they are direct rivals and frankly it was a great victory.

The irony as well is actually we dealt with their attack quite well, when compared to others so the ratings again are very bizarre.

If you look at season stats hey really aren't chipping in enough and our whole season is on Kane's shoulders. Don't think for a minute we lose him tomorrow we even make top 6

Actually Millsey, we have scored 33 goals, of which Kane has weighed in with 11, with 12 players contributing goals in the EPL.

Hardly the whole season on his shoulders.

Having said that, he has been integral to the manner in which we play, so losing him would be a blow.

But Kane stepped up unexpectedly, as has Lamela, as has Dier, as have a plethora of others.

Whilst I fully agree that a second striker is utmost priority, we thought the same for a number of other positions pre season.

Worked out rather well so far

Lamela and Trippier share the honours.

You lucky boys. An inch from losing. Turned a loss into a win. Gritty but lacklustre.
The pitch contributed,
thought specially prepared pitches for the home side
were a cricketing phenomena.
Was looking forward to it but glad it's over.
Best goal difference in the PL at it stand s tonight,
three consecutive wins, two away from home.
Winning when not playing well.
Thanks Santa.

Trippier surprised me today. His delivery is always excellent (thanks to him for the winner) but Rose was an abomination. Just when I thought he was beginning to turn a corner, his petulant side really affects his game negatively.

Very good summing up, i think Davies and Walker the better defenders of the four and Tripper and Rose better deliverers of the ball when going forward. I myself would like to see Tripper given more PL game time, and Davies could also do with a longer run.

I think Davies is the better crosser and has more FTQ :playful::playful: than Rose but Rose will get more crosses in because he's quick and gets up and down that line.

I really wish Rose improved his delivery because he could become one hell of a full back.

So you don't think I should go ahead with my purchase of the domain name www.ftq.com and I should shelve my plans to create a website to rival squawka that's dedicated to monitoring the Final Third Quality of every player in every major league?

Well, I've given it to the world and if it spreads organically and takes hold then so be it.

Mate you are a fricken legend you really are...love you buddy! :D

Just seen Lamela's goal on MOTD- brilliant finish. And Son's was opportunistic genius. It's been a decent Christmas.

Trippier MOTM

Poor performance all around.

Lloris - 3 - No command of the area, should have smothered their goal, poor distribution.
Rose - 6 - Decent, always an outlet though no end product.
Dier/Verts/Toby - 4 - Manhandled by 2 players all afternoon.
Trippier - 7 - MOTM. Great balls in, always offered himself though wasn't picked out nearly enough, especially when up a man.
Dembele - 5.5 - Didn't get involved, wonder if he was fit. Calming when on the ball though.
Carroll - 5 - We just seem fragile when he plays, but he did OK.
Alli - 5 - Meh.
Lamela - 6 - Good pressing, good finish. Disappeared second half.
Kane - 6 - Did OK.
Eriksen - 4 - The passenger plays from the bench this time. Woeful continuation of the past 1-2 months. Lacks fire.
Son - 6.5 - Points for the goal, good movement.
Chadli - Not enough time really.

You do realise those two players upfront for Watford are a great combination, right? They have power and they work hard. Drogba, Shearer, Kane slowly.

I think you're being very generous with the ratings, great won but there were few good performances given the standards set this season.

This isn't an apple to apple comparison. Watford are like Bolton under allardyce. This was a tough test, long balls, hard working midfield and two bully strikers. The ratings are valid because they out fought us. It was like Drago vs Rocky... We got the knockout eventually, but we were battered physically.

Didn't get to watch the game. Did the 3-6-1 work well? We won, but we did concede. Although looking at the goal it was more just Ighalo outmuscling Dier. How were the back 3, did they seem organised? And how did the wing backs fare? That's the real success to a 3 defender formation.

At half time a lot of people were whining about the strange formation, but I thought it worked well enough. It allowed us to get the ball down and work it across the pitch and the wing backs were always free and saw plenty of ball. At 1-0 all was fine.

Second half was a bit scrappier and we had lost Dembele. After the sending off Dier reverted back to midfield as Watford went 4-4-1.

For a first outing I thought it was fine.

(for a bit more appraisal, see my ratings post on the previous page).

Can you please remember to state that FTQ is currently patent pending.

I noticed quite a few low ratings but this is my view. Kevin Davies and Kevin Nolan were average players at best, but the Bolton formation meant it worked brilliantly. Reebok was a tough place to go to. That is Watford this season, but they have 2 Kevin Davies upfront.

Our defence played well given they played 2 absolute bully's, with a very hard working team behind them. Being a defender is hard against that. A striker being aggressive through on goal only gives a free kick away in a safe place. A defender fouls it's a dangerous free kick or a penalty.

This was a test of our defence. Had it failed, it would have shipped in 2 or 3. One isn't bad, and it was lucky in my opinion. Pretty much bundled through Dier. But our defenders didn't like it. But nobody liked playing Kevin Davies or Didier Drogba. No defender likes being bullied.
