Mentions in dispatches go to Lamela though for the most pointlessly Lamela-like performance since the last one. No other player in our squad would run 15 yards to hunt down an opposition player and put in a sliding tackle just to knock the ball out for a goal kick. And no other player would put in a sly tackle from the side and give the ref dog's abuse for calling the foul when we're 4-1 up and in injury time. And you might say 'good' because, from one perspective, they're bloody stupid things to do, but I have to say, in a season where we've put in several listless performances and in a game where most of the team were shifting down to second gear, it does gladden the heart to see one of our players run around like a five-year-old who's been on the fizzy pop.

It doesn't make him Man of the Match. But it does make him Erik Lamela. And I'm all for that.

This is possibly the single most accurate post on the quality and madness that is Erik. Well done. If there is a Hall of Fame for posts, this should be in it.

I read post, it was over estimating Lamela's performance yesterday. Hence the 'room' comment.
