Thought Vinny was ok. It seems we have watched Harry dominate match after match for so long that we have forgotten what a normal striker does.

Yet another penalty from another piece of very sloppy play. Had WAC been more clinical it could very easily have been a tighter score line.

Sissoko has unfortunately regressed and if possible should be upgraded in the summer. I shan’t criticize a player who is limited but tries hard.

Overall the score line is in line with what we would have wanted and should make the second leg comfortable enough. Good first half goals and good to see skills from Bale and Dele, even if Dele was too uncertain when in good positions, but obviously still rusty.

Bigger game to come, good result and some nice periods of play but really these guys are 6th in the Austrian league. West Ham will be the test at the weekend.

... true; but a bit of confidence building can go along way

Of course but we still seen the glass confidence we had in the second half. West Ham are a decent team this season, we get a result and more importantly a performance and my faith will start to be restored.

I haven’t looked at every page on here tonight, but Sissoko looked pissed off when he came off. I actually thought he played well until their goal. He seemed to want the ball more, was more physical, and actually made some good passes.
I bet he was pissed off as one mistake and he’s hooked?

If you watched that first half with an open mind I think you would have seen a very competent performance by Sissoko. He was purposeful and successful with the majority of his passes and runs, playing a dynamic midfield role. He is quite clearly and consistently a more effective player than Winks.
He had a bad 2nd half, trying to play from deeper, passing sideways, which he is obviously not suited to.
The fouls he gives away often look clumsy but are at least partly due to the refs over eagerness to give them due to the difference in size and strength between him and the opponent.

The score and the players who weren't used/didn't play too long means that we can go hard in the next 2 PL games.

Hopefully our form will mirror our form when we were playing EL before xmas now.

The midweek PL games seemed to coincide with our bad form.

Ok. So, for the Jose out folks, I hope you were paying attention to the dumb freekick Sissoko gave away at the end of the first half. And then the god awful penalty he conceded early second half. Do you see why so many others keep saying this isn’t just a coaching problem, but also players making catastrophic mistakes again and again and again. And u see how it messes with the confidence of the team? That has plagued us all season. That is a perfect example of how it is so easy for our players to crumble when zillions of mistakes happen.

My beef with Jose has never been about the amount of mistakes. I’m fully aware of how limited some of these players are. I just want to see some intent and aggression in our play but we were regularly being sent out completely devoid of any aggression and intent.

The last 4 games have been a breath of fresh air for me and the team are clearly playing so much more positively and on the front foot. They’re still making lots of mistakes but the approach is so much better to watch.

Let’s talk about the most important thing of the night - Ian Darke’s frankly bizarre commentary. He’s suddenly started putting absurd accents onto names - Lucas Moura and when he mentioned Bruno Fernandes were first half highlights, which I put down to pretentiousness but then he refereed to Ben Davies as Daveesh. Then he spent the whole second half talking as it spurs were getting humped. Very odd.

I feel a bit sorry for Moussa. His weaknesses left him looking a bit silly in the second half but at least he was visible and trying. I am in no doubt he will be upgraded this Summer and he needs to be but I have a lot of respect who gives nothing less than 100%.

It was bizarre. Budapesht, Fernandesh. He must be doing a language course with a very hot teacher and he is trying to impress her :)

Either that or he’s been hanging around with Steve Mclaren.

The whole media narrative surrounding Spurs is odd, even JJ was at it. I had to check I was watching the same game.

Dele was good today. Nice to see that.

Sissoko and Doherty didn’t even look like professionals out there, but what’s new?

Dele has 2 big issues - he has no acceleration and he can’t kick the ball hard. He must have fallen over 15 times today because he is easy to crowd out as he can’t get away from players quick enough. It also means he has to trick his way past defenders which quite often doesn’t come of so he loses the ball very cheaply.
He has always lacked a decent shot which it really essential for an attacking midfielder. I can’t see him getting many more games at Spurs no matter who the manager is.

I think that is the issue for Dele. Arguably his sense of space is better than Kane or Son but he doesn’t have an Eriksen to play him into space. Ndombele could but they never play together. Dele playing with his back to goal is just not going to work and he doesn’t have the pace to beat players hence the constant tricks.
