Don't think you can read to much into that game it was like a training match from both sides, nothing to really gripe about but if we have to have a moan then here goes.. why the hell did Harry have to play for 85mins.. if they wheel him out again 2moro there taking the p*ss..

Prior to the game very few on here gave ourselves a chance against one of the best teams in the world and IMHO we didn't disgrace ourselves as many feared. More importantly a chance was given to many of the young players and recent acquisitions to see how they gelled and with whom. Both R.M. goals were sloppy and preventable but we had our chances and with more clinical finishing we could have drawn which would have been ironic as R.M overall were the better team.

I would be very happy with that performance if it was earlier in preseason but seeing as its 4 days before we kick off against Man Utd it did leave me a little worried. I couldn't care less about loosing, i just thought we looked significantly off the pace. Okay, i would not want to see us go full pelt in a preseason match, but i just thought we where sluggish all over the pitch. Ali looked good for the first half and Wimmer has potential and looks like a very astute buy but those two apart, i am feeling very nervous for the weeks ahead.

Exactly. Couldn't care less about the result but we looked so sluggish and ponderous.

This will be the season where fans can really start to make realistic evaluations as to Poch's relative success or failure.

The lack of pace in the squad, the lack of decent wing play and cutting edge, the inability to open up teams and the fact that we only have one striker has been apparent for a long time now and it is worrying that this has yet to be addressed 4 says before kick-off at OT.

Unless Poch is happy with the squad as it is, he really should be going ape shit in Danny's ear to get it sorted out. He may have a 5 year contract, but this is probably his make or break season and he really shouldn't be gambling on another 30+ goals from Harry Kane.

If we are not atleast in contention for 4th spot again then Poch could be in trouble despite the obvious lack of support he seems to be getting from the boardroom in terms of players in.

That second half was tedious.... seriously boring stuff, reminded me of the football we played at the back end of last season.

What gets me is spurs are so predictable it's frightening. We don't counter quick enough, we pass the ball along the back until eventually it finds it's way to Rose/Walker on the wing who: A - hits the first man with a cross or B- Passes the ball backwards 5 yards to an on coming midfielder. The midfielder will then generally pass it backwards, reverting to another collection of defensive nowhere passing or loses the ball.

We have no real creative players, no one (bar perhaps Danny Rose) who is really willing to run at players. The ball very rarely finds it's way to Kane, I think he had about 3 touches in that game. Really it just makes it boring, really boring.

You do realise that we were the 5th highest scorers in the league last season right? And scored only 4 goals less than man utd. Not bad for a team with 'zero creative players'.

and for those who think "so what its just a pre-season game", the lads are better off playing 180mins testimonial matches for fitness-building.. games like MLS All-Stars and this Audi Cup are to be won in all honesty so they do not get too used to losing to start a season..

I just don't know that's the case. We are close to playing Utd, I doubt they were sent out with "win at all costs" instructions. I think they would have had their last intense fitness session Sunday and this would be the last fitness session before the match. They would have been feeling it from Sunday and would be using this as an overload session for peak fitness at Utd. Tactically they might have been working on some periphery stuff but most of the stuff for Utd would be happening in training, behind closed doors.

The same for the players tomorrow. Really, we can't take anything from this match other than saying it was a tidy workout and Ali is going to be pushing mason hard for the starting 11.

I know it's preseason and I know the game didn't mean anything but I have been, and continue to be, extremely worried about our midfield 2. It's pretty telling when your pinning your hopes on Bentaleb, a guy who has had 1 decent (not spectacular) season and Alli who hasn't even had that in the top flight, both young and raw. Bentaleb, Dembele, Mason, Alli, Carroll, Winks....That list of options is really, really poor.
