The Rebrov and Klinsmann signings were like Shooting of JFK still remember exactly where I was when I heard the announcement on the radio.

Driving a clapped Austin Maestro banging the steering wheel and blaring the horn as drove through a sleepy Cheshire village.

I like to think they understood the occasion.

Funny how we wanted them all to suceed yet I don't recall tears when we sold Berba, Robbie and Jermaine lol who were good for us.

Had the pleasure of meeting a Bobby and his Spanish mate good blokes wish them both success in Spain.

P.s wish he had come when we had VDv, Madrid bale and Lennon he could have score so many goals

The bit in bold, seriously wtf? This really has gone off at the deep end now.

I don't have a problem with people liking him as a person. Nice guy undoubtedly. I explained what I took issue with, defences related to on the pitch stuff that have been largely conjured out of thin air, and I think deep down people know that. I've just called out what I think is total BS really, and yes I may have been a bit childish at times but I don't think I have been that different to how I post on other topics. I felt that it needed to be countered at the time. He seemed to have some sort of special status, posters wouldn't get away with embellishing the records of other, less popular players.

Anyway my presence here is not going to be constructive, so I'll back out now. Enjoy the funeral :)

Indeed, just there's a time and a place for it. Hence the funeral comparison - and I expect in the coming weeks they'll be plenty of "can't believe people paid actual monies for Soldado, lol jk" etc. and that's fine, but your post was misplaced. You can say what you want, but I will call poor form when I see it.

Nice fella tried hard but didn't work out unfortunately. I think there's still a good striker in there somewhere, you don't score 30+ goals in La Liga 2-3 seasons in a row and not be a good player. He didn't really suit our team and managers styles or the premier league and then it just became a confidence issue which is pivital for any striker.

I loved it when he got that goal vs Everton but that pass when he was through on goal in the Europa league was the final nail in the coffin. Glad he's gone now as wouldn't have added any value this season but really hope he does well for Villereal.

Bye bye Bobby. COYS

He rivals Rebrov for me on all counts, the elation, the hope, the reality, the disappointment and the exit stage left.
Kind of but Bobby was more proven when we signed him and seemed like he cared more and was a nicer chap hence why I think the fans liked him more than Redroof and wanted him to succeed more too.

Put in 100% every time he put on the shirt. Few play to him. And best of luck in la liga. He'll bang in loads over there.

Just :( - always thought it would come good. Know he will go back and soon be back to knocking them in again. All the best Bobby

Best for him, us and villareal. I was so sure he'd succeed for us. I'll always remember telling my best mate, who is not an avid La Liga follower, when he asked who I wanted that Soldado was perfect for us. This was long before we were even linked.

Was he ill suited to this league? Was he never provided with good service? Did three successive managers just not play a style he could work in? It's a combination really. The guy tried, and he obviously cared. It just wasn't meant to be.

Really hope he smashes it in La Liga and restores his reputation. Now, on we move, just three of the magnificent seven remaining. Let's support those who are left and be glad that we've been decisive this window.

Adebayor did more For Tottenham but the love affair for Soldado is wired
I guess that Bobby came to the club without any preconceptions unlike Ade who had a bit of baggage from previous clubs.

It simply comes down to the fact that Ade is a complete twat whilst Soldado appears to be a stand up guy, who went about his business like a pro and not like a petulant teenage girl. Not weird in the slightest really.

Have you ever met either of them?

That goodbye message might be just about the best thing I've ever read from a footballer - total class. Honestly had to wipe away a tear... I love it that his family will always be Spurs now.

Sad it didn't come right for him with us, for whatever reason. I hope he does the bizz at Villareal, because there is obviously a great striker in there and he desreves to get his career back on track.

I would dearly love it if he came back to the Lane with Villareal in the Europa one of these days, so we can sing his song one more time and give him a proper goodbye.:cry:

Remember on his debut thinking we had got a berbatov and nistelrooy rolled into one with elegance and poaching in the right place at the right time . He started off with a few pens and Europa league goals and i just don't know where it went wrong from there ... I thought he looked good at the start :(

I also remember him getting a double in an away Europa game at the start of his career for us to and then not scoring for a while but grabbing one away at villa .. :(
