After many years of making the mistake of going out of my way to watch pre-season friendlies I have finally seen one that I really enjoyed. I like Ceballos a lot, he has developed well in physique and all round game. Lots of positives all round and I'm not interested in the negatives at this stage.

Totally agree. There was one point where a Sounder player played a ball into the box that with backspin absolutely stopped and came back to Martins which would not normally happen on a natural grass pitch.

Multiple times Carroll attempted to play passes on the ground that when they traveled a fair distance on the surface they lost pace and Sounders players jumped on it to intercept.

I definitely believe there was something in the pitch that affected the quality of touches of the players. And, even if it didn't, you have to think the simple thought of accounting for a foreign/novel pitch surface could affect their ability to play the way they want.

TBF I've noticed this happen to a lot of Carroll's passes regardless of surface because he tries to play ultra-safe and precise

It took just 45 minutes to reconfirm what we knew last season ... Dawson is finished, Lennon is poor, Naughton and Rose not up to it. All have to go

Whilst I thoroughly agree with you, the unfortunate thing is that they are all home grown :(

is anyone confident that soldado would've actually finished that chance? at no point did i ever feel he was going to put it away and that's quite worrying.

I think he could have got his shot off but the defender was close (and clumsy) so he took the easy way out.

i agree, he was definitely looking for it. i just want to see him get put clean through and stick it in the corner, even in a friendly it'll do his confidence some good.

Wish people would stop suggesting we sell half our squad after one pre-season friendly.

The ones that they're complaining about have been playing poorly for some time. They've not had just one bad pre-season friendly game, they've been like it for a long, long time. When was the last time you saw Lennon, Dawson, Townsend, Rose have a great game? Yeah ok rose had a good half today, amazing what a player can do when he knows we're signing his replacement.

Poch has sent them out today and said, lads show me what you can do for 45 minutes. Show me some fire. You'd think Lennon would go out and bust a gut to impress the manager. Yet he did nothing, after a season of doing nothing. That's why we're on his back.

Then you see Ceballos and Falque come on and they show us what we're missing. They're hungry too. They have so much skill and potential. A bit Like Lennon 10 years ago. Sorry but Lennon and Dawson have had their day. Poch's not stupid and he'll bring these young uns on and hopefully we'll see the last of the old guard.

Difficult to tell, don't really think he had a clean run.

Let's see how he finishes chances over the next few pre-season games. As ever though he was very capable in possession. Had a decent game yesterday I thought.

He maybe played for the penalty and could have got his shot away, but he should have been clean away from the defender by a comfortable distance after the touch took him inside. It highlighted his lack of real pace in my opinion.

Exactly, we are not moaning about certain players just because of a bloody pre season friendly. Most of us realise Aaron Lennon is not good enough anymore and for years he has been extremely poor. Dawson proving once again despite his great attitude what a liability and a cart horse he is. The quicker we rid of these players like Lennon, naughton, Rose and Dawson the better.
